Ed’s flat is well situated – on the one hand, you can reach Alexander Platz in 10 minutes by tram from a stop just round the corner, on the other hand it is in a quiet area. There is a small Kaiser’s supermarket opposite where you can buy bread rolls and other staples. The flat is very modest: the sitting room is simply furnished; the bedroom is equally simply furnished and whilst the bed itself is quite comfortable, the pillows are not; the kitchen is just adequate. In the bathroom, the bathtub is not properly installed which makes showering tricky although the water pressure is great and the water really hot. Sadly, the toilet blocked during our stay – we resolved this with a toilet-unblocking product we found under the bath so it is clearly a recurring problem but we had not been informed of it. The electrics throughout the flat are somewhat haphazard and we were a bit concerned about the safety of it all – there are trailing sockets in every room (except the bathroom) and some sockets hanging off the wall. A big problem though was the noise: there is a lot of renovation going on at the moment (a lift is being installed so lots of drilling into the stonework) and according to the workmen this renovation work will last until at least the end of this year. The work started at 7 am but we were out when it finished so no idea what time that would have been. There was no information from Ed before we arrived that this work was still going on – the last note on his Airbnb page was from July 2014. In addition to the noise, the renovation work created huge volumes of dust – given that the kitchen was right next to the front door and did not have a door of its own, this meant that the kitchen was covered in dust every evening. The flat was in any case not very clean even without this dust. Berlin is a great city and we enjoyed our brief stay there.
We had a very comfortable stay. The apartment is well located from all the attractions. I would highly recommend this beautiful apartment.
meine schwestern haben bei ed gewohnt. sie waren mit allem zufrieden und haben sich bei ihm wohl gefühlt.
