I was born in Galway and have been living in England for the last fourteen years. I still long to return to Ireland but until that day arrives I am sharing my home so that others can enjoy it!

Carol's home is absolutely stunning. Remote, modern -- but tastefully placed -- home with all the amenities a family needs for a perfect Connemara retreat. The pictures don't do the place justice. I will recommend it to anyone I know who has County Galway on their itineraries. Carol, too, was communicative and helpful all through the process. The resident sheep were a huge plus for my teenager. 5 stars!!
We had an absolutely brilliant time at Carol's house on the hill. The house is just wonderful with amazing views and tons of space, just as it looks on the photographs. We ended up arriving in the dark due to a missed flight but located the house thanks to the precise instructions, despite it being pitch black! Oughterard itself has everything you need even out of season, we had a hearty full Irish breakfast at the local pub and stocked up on supplies at the butchers, McGeoughs. That along with Uncle Matt's Farm kept us busy cooking delicious local produce in the spacious kitchen. A brilliant location for exploring both Connemara and Galway. We hope to return!
We had an amazing experience of Connemara while staying at Carol's place. This house is located in an amazing place, and the design takes advantage of all the best views.
This house is perfect if you are looking for a holiday in a remote and serene location. Being a listing for the entire home, you can have complete privacy, and really feel at home, so I suggest it is more suitable for longer stays, so you can fully enjoy.
I would definitely recommend this listing, for families, or groups of friends. The house can feel a bit large for 2 people.
Stunning house, in a breathtaking location. It was my first time using Airbnb, and I really struck gold. The perfect escape.
Carol was fantastic. Great directions, and the house had everything you could wish for. Loved the wood burning stove and the open plan layout.
This is real Grand Designs. Looking forward to returning again soon.
A stunning house in a beautiful remote location. Well equipped and lots of things to see and do in the area surrounding.
The house is exactly as described on Airbnb. It's a true architect house in the middle of the sheeps with a stunning view on the lake, lots of glass, plenty of room for us and our daughter! There is a track to access the house and no neighbours except woolies. We had a very very pleasant stay, and the emails with the owner were very nice and helpful. The house was lighten when we arrived at 10pm, that's nice. There was even a Christmas tree for us.
We had a wonderful stay in Carol's beautiful home! This is an amazing modern house in a beautiful rural setting. We were traveling with our 12 month old and it was great to have the crib, high chair and all of the toys there in the home for him to play with and enjoy himself. With the baby, it was also great to have the washer and dryer in the utility room. The spacious open floor plan gave our son much room to run around and gave us plenty of room to stretch out, relax and enjoy the picturesque views from the many windows. There was a collection of brochures about local points of interest as well as an Ireland guide book that helped us plan our days. The house struck an excellent balance of being very secluded while having the convenience of anything you might need in Oughterard only about 15 minutes away. All of us loved the morning visits from the two horses in the adjacent field and the sheep who made themselves at home right in the yard. We were a little concerned about staying warm visiting in November, but the wood stove kept us cozy and there was a small space heater provided that we used to ensure our son was warm in his crib at night. This was an excellent base of stay for exploring County Galway and the surrounding region. It is plain to see all of the thought and planning that have gone into creating this beautiful home--there was even a small book in the house about the inspiration and construction process that was very interesting. I would highly recommend staying here and would love an opportunity to stay here again!
We loved staying in this truly unique house ! The house is stunning with breath taking views of lake corrib and surrounding areas . It is remote and a great place to switch off and relax in front of the wonderful stove .
The house has everything you could ask for and then some :)
Carol was incredibly helpful in all her communication and directions about the house . It's a destination I would defiantly revisit , without hesitation .
