Though I occasionally succumb to adulthood and all its accompanying responsibilities, I generally do a pretty good job at finding the fun side of life. Sometimes it's a pleasant compromise of mixing business with pleasure, as I'm a freelance writer/photographer who occasionally gets to travel around the world to write about all things mountain bike - France, Peru, Canada, and Nepal so far this year. Other times it's strictly in the name of comedy as I try for the umpteenth time to master surfing, but fail gloriously. And if it's snowing in the mountains, I'm usually up there with a plank or two strapped on.
Since saying one is a freelance writer is like someone saying they're an actor in LA, my full-time career job is as a city firefighter. While I don't really think it is part of my personality, friends do say it's part of my character - or maybe their idea of a firefighter's character is seen in me. Either way, it at least says I'm good with ladders.
Other than that, I'm somewhat typical in being a Boulderite - recycling, semi-hardcore bicycle commuting, closet treehugging, blue-bleeding liberal. The big exceptions being that I live off of gluten products, eat meat, can't stand jam bands, and drive a big diesel van.
