A great stay! Carol was very welcoming, and we had a fun and relaxing time enjoying the February sunshine on the porch and rambling on the beach. We charged our Nissan Leaf at the quick chargers at Freddy's in St. Helens and again at the Berry Patch in Clatskanie/Westport, literally around the corner from the ferry access road. Next time we'll bring our dog...
Carol provides a super relaxed and comfortable farm stay atmosphere. The fresh eggs and home made wine were such a bonus!
Carol greeted Kati, Jasmine (dog) and I when we first arrived. She took us up to the apartment and showed us around. She told us about the surrounding area and things to do. She was super helpful, informative and friendly. She made us scones, boiled eggs and left us fresh oranges. Delicious! The homemade wine was pleasant to have that night too. Drop Anchor Brewery and Sharon's Pizza are solid choices! We will be back!
The little bottle of homemade wine on the table is such a nice welcome. Carol provides a very clean and nice second-floor apartment. Puget Island is fascinating, and I wish I could have stayed longer. Carol and George are so friendly and make time to show you around their little farm. Fresh eggs....the best.
Everything about the place and the experience was great! The room was nice and warm when we arrived, and clean with ample amenities. The homemade wine was a beautiful touch, which we enjoyed with our first dinner. And even though it does not have a full kitchen, we were able to make some delicious meals—the grill really helped with that.
Inside and outside, the farm was totally silent and tranquil. We had unexpected sunshine, so we walked the beach across the street on our second day and really enjoyed that. The island and Cathlamet are very charming and the drive out there was beautiful as well.
We came mainly for some chill time outside the city, and this was perfect for that, but a longer stay would be just as good considering how close it is to both Astoria and Portland.
We did not get to meet Carol as she was out of town, but we ran into the housesitter once and she was kind and helpful.
We would definitely come back!
Carol's farm stay apartment was exactly what we were looking for. Private, beautiful, and extra goodies :)
Columbia Island farm stay was an enjoyable, relaxing setting. The apartment was definitely warm and cozy. Very rainy season, but we took our dog walking across the street on the beach before dark. He loved it! The island itself has charming farms and animals, and we saw bald eagles! The deer eluded us on this trip sadly. Thanks for the getaway Carol!
We had THE best time at Carol's home! If you're looking for a completely magical place to stay in Washington, go here. Everything is a dream.
Relaxing and delightful. We will be back for sure. Carol and George were very accommodating.
The pizza at the market and Carol's scones are delicious. The brewery was great too.
We felt right at home and easily slipped into the slower pace of rural life! we rode our bikes around the 20 mile loop of the island, and in the evening enjoyed relaxing in the quiet gardens and breathing briny ocean air.
Thank you for sharing your home with us!
We enjoyed having Carol & George as our guests. Pleasant & interesting to chat with... they're long time travelers with lots of tales to tell. They left the place nice & tidy and I recommend them highly to any other hosts.
