I've spent a large part of the last 20 year travelling, and I'm presently trying to combine a bit of professional responsibility with the desire to see more of the world. I'm now trying to slow down the pace of my travels, and spend quality time absorbing life in some of the more interesting, diverse, and evolving urban neighbourhoods in the world.
Some of my main interests are art, architecture, and good food. I like to discover small local businesses that still have a sense of place and have pride in what they do. Some of my favourite cities at the moment are Shanghai, New York, Buenos Aires, and Berlin, the tastiest food I've ever eaten came from the hawker stalls of Penang, Malaysia, and some of my favourite off the beaten path getaways are Ilha de Mocambique, Flores, Indonesia, and Inle Lake, Burma. I'm a sucker for cobblestone streets and crumbling old historic buildings, and will rarely turn down a cafe con leche and the chance to people watch.
I'm currently living in a city with some serious issues but also untapped potential, and find it shameful that indifferent governance and bad urban policies can have such a negative impact on so many people's lives. If you ever visit here I hope to show you some of its charms, and I look forward to seeing the unique local attractions of wherever you may live.
