I am an Army brat who has lived in many places around the world. Today is my birthday, I am 68 and loving it. I just got home from a lunch with my friends.
A friend and I stayed with Cassandra over the 4th of July weekend, and she was wonderful! Talk about going the extra mile--she invited us to attend a neighborly gathering/cookout, as her guests, complete with tasty home-cooked food and fireworks! The neighbors made us feel right at home, and were as welcoming as Cassandra! She provided some helpful insights into local and area activities, and even made us coffee to get us started on our daily adventures! Her house sits in a most scenic, wooded hillside and we slept with the windows open to enjoy cool evening mountain breezes--it was great! In short, staying with Cassandra felt like staying with family, except she was polite and the accommodations were nicer! We highly recommend a stay here!
We would highly recommend Cassandra's home for your next stay in the woods. The home is tucked into the side of a mountain and is absolutely quiet, no noise except for the birds singing. Although you are in the woods, the home is close enough to surrrounding small towns for antiqueing or a dinner out. Our room with private bath is on the lower level so there is lots of privacy. The space is extremely clean and very well maintained. The location is also convenient to the many hiking trails in the surrounding national forests. We also enjoyed hearing about Cassandra's many adventures over morning coffee.
Response from Cassandra:
Thank you Paula. A very good suggestion and I will move the photos. Suggestions are so very welcome.
Our stay with Cassandra was a pleasant experience. Her house is located (email hidden) area, tucked away in the woods, with lots of hikes / nature activities to do nearby.
Cassandra is a very welcoming host. She respected our privacy while we also shared a few conversations over coffee she offered us every morning. She also made some great suggestions about the things to do in the area and even drew us a map we (successfully!) followed. The room we stayed in was nice and clean with a homey feel to it. We also enjoyed spending time on the patio, sipping a bottle of delicious Pinot Noir we got at a nice tiny wine shop located in Highlands, NC – charming town about 40 minutes away from Cassandra’s house. We would definitely come back.
Val myself and Ruby, our dog, enjoyed our stay with Cassandra. Would recommend it especially if you beginning or ending a journey on the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway.
Cassandra has a lovely home, and the room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. She made us feel very welcome, and always made sure we had everything we needed, including some great breakfasts. Her home is a also a great location to get some sightseeing done, and Cassandra was very helpful with providing any information on the surroundings and how to get to some lovely hiking trails.
The stay with Cassandra was interesting and unique. Her house was nice and the surrounding area was beautiful and peaceful. Cassandra was hospitable and had rich stories to tell of her life experience. We gained a lot from our time there.
We had such a lovely stay with Cassandra. Her lovely, spacious home was clean and tucked away in the mountains, she is a wonderful host who prepared a yummy breakfast. Our room and bathroom were clean and spacious with great views. We had a great time chatting and sharing stories with her and hope to see her again again in the smokies or in the islands :)
We really enjoyed our stay with "Sue". My daughter and I took a spontaneous trip for her October break from school and we were thankful Sue accepted our reservation last minute. We were thrilled with where the home was located, just a mile or so away from a one lane dirt road up the mountain. We spent our first day hiking portions of the Appalachian Trail. The second day we hiked to "Pickens Nose" which had an amazing view of the mountains, highly recommend. We also hiked up the summit of Albert Mountain to the Fire Tower which gave us a wonderful panoramic view of mountains in 3 states. We wouldn't have known about these hiking treasures if Sue hadn't taken the time to tell us and draw us a map. We were pleased with our room which is in the lower level of the home so plenty of privacy. The lower level had a nice living area with a big TV and plenty of movies. It also has a private bathroom with shower. The home is built on the side of a mountain so the bedroom window view is full of trees. We really enjoyed Sue's company and eating breakfast with her. The last day we were there, Sue told us the town of Franklin was having a Pumpkin Festival, so we attended the festival after our hiking and went antiquing. Sue was also able to tell us about the local restaurants and stores. We loved the Thai restaurant. We would feel very comfortable staying with Sue again. Being from Indiana, we had just an amazing time in the mountains and Sue was very helpful in guiding us to make the most of our visit. Thank you!
Cassandra (Susie) was a great host. She was very generous and hospitable and knew her area well, both how to get around, what was available where, and what was going on. Her home was like an aerie, high on a hillside, full of windows that looked out into trees. It was also light, spacious, private, and very clean. I would be happy to stay there again.
We had a great time at Cassandra's place with my girlfriend. Away from the city her house is literally in the wood. She also is really close to some good hiking trail. Cassandra has a great open space with huge window showing the woods/mountain (depending on the foliage). The room is nice and also have windows with view in the forest.
I definitely recommend Cassandra's house.
