We felt very welcome when we arrived. Lydia was unable to meet us but her friend Jean was very responsive and met us within 15 minutes of arriving on the island to give us the keys and show us around the facility and apartment. The place is just as shown on the photos, including the great view and sound of waves we woke up to every morning. The apartment is very quiet and easy to go get good sleep in. I loved that the building has a private door to the small beach out back. Supermarket one block away was great to have. Lots of places to eat and a cute street market near the ferry station. All walking distance. The room even came with a very well put together tourist guide with activity suggestions. Jean was also very helpful with advice on places to visit. Overall, This apartment was a great first Airbnb experience.
Lydia and Jean were excellent hosts. Any time we had a problem they fixed it immediately, even bringing us a bottle of wine! The view, beach, and location are wonderful. Swimming on the beach is great, it is usually the calmest on the island and free of seaweed, unlike Orient. It was also very quiet, one of my biggest fears before arriving. The Marigot area was easy walking distance, to the harbor (north and turn left) and the marina with best restaurants (go north and turn right). Saw some concerns online about safety issues but we were in St Martin for three weeks, walked everywhere without problems. One local restaranteur in Grand Case told my wife to take off her necklace so it wouldnt be snatched. Best beaches were Mullet (crowded), Rouge (good drinks/food), and Anse Marcel (best beachside music and quiet). If you stay here you really dont need a car. Just take the buses or a cab to wherever, the local drivers are a little scary so you can avoid that. Weather was great, a little windy and periodic showers first few days in early January, but after that, no rain during the day. Pay with dollars in cash if they give a 1 to 1 rate or with CC if not. The only downside to this apt is it is quite small but with the great weather we spent most time outside or on the nice balcony. The bathroom was recently remodeled and is very chic and modern. Lastly, be sure to tell Lydia if you dont have a phone as she expects you to call when you arrive. All the French travelers have cell phones without high roaming charges apparently so she assumes you have a phone.
The place was very much as described. Everything worked great with her friend Jean with getting keys vas picking them up. Place was clean building was safe. If you needed anything there is a market just next door. I would recommend this place however if you are looking to be close the the action you will need a car, it's a very short drive to Simpson Bay or Maho but I would strongly recommend a car. Downtown Marigot is walking distance but everything else is a drive. With a car everything is close by.
Just like many recent reviewers, we loved the apartment and found that it is exactly as described on the web-page. Here are our favorite things about the apartment …
1. Breakfast on the balcony.
2. The constant breeze.
3. The swimming pool. Never more than half a dozen people there!
4. The French supermarket three minutes walk away.
5. “Downtown Marigot” just a ten minute stroll away.
We loved this apartment. One block to the supermarket, 10 minutes walk to Marigot with plenty of taxis, shops and restaurants, clean semi-private beach right outside. Completely equipped with everything we needed, towels, beach chairs, crockery, cutlery, TV, etc. Very impressive super modern bathroom. Nice small balcony with table and 2 chairs. Amazing view. Secure building. About 20 minutes to the airport by taxi.
Lydia and Jean are very professional and friendly, very rapid response to emails and phone calls. We had absolutely no problems with this booking and the apartment was clean and great.
A mon grand regret, ce n'est pas Lydia qui m'a accueilli mais son ami Jean. Appartement très bien situé convenable pour deux ou trois personnes, à proximité des lieux d'intérêts.
All the emails I sent were replied to really fast. The apartment was aptly called superb: balcony over the sand, sound of the waves breaking 24 hours of the day. On New Year's the hosts surprised us with a King's Cake and a bottle of wine, very nice gesture.
Very nice apartment with beautiful ocean view and sound. Jean was very helpful checking me in and explaining about the area. He also brought a DVD player upon my request. I prepared my breakfast every morning and ate at the balcony. Luxury. I swam everyday in front of the apartment. It's almost private and not many people around there. I loved eating at several bakeries nearby. Some restaurants offer one euro = one dollar deal. There are so many things you can do on the island. Marigot is a wonderful French town less touristy and not too crowded. Thank You Lydia and Jean.
Empfehlung: the Bridge. Alles in allem immer wieder Lydia!
Our stay at Lydia's was perfect. The apartment and the surroundings was as described. The view from the balcony was fantastic and the beach right below was beautiful. Lydia left us a brochure for restaurants, beaches and other useful information. We didn't met Lydia in person, but had contact through the airbnb app during our stay.
When we arrived at the apartment Lydia couldn't meet us, instead we met up with a friend of Lydia called Titi. She was super nice, she greeted us and gave us the best information.
Thanks Lydia for a great stay which made our vacation perfect. We do recommend this stay and would come back next time our vacation takes us to Saint Martin.
