Born in the famous cheese town Gouda in Holland, moved to Australia in the 1980's in search of adventure, more space and better climate.
I lived in Darwin for a few years and moved to the Daintree in 1993 where I bought five acres of rainforest and spent the next two decades growing Rainforest Hideaway in to what it is now.
While we offer accommodation to make an income and try to survive, we would not still be doing it after 14 years if we did not enjoy meeting and hosting people from around the world, This is not an impersonal resort but you are staying in someone's (jungle) home and this seems to sort out the type of people we get staying. We often have young travellers helping out and they often remark on what nice people we have staying with us all the time. Let's hope it stays that way!
