Dominique was very welcoming and helpful. We really appreciated the opportunity to have an open fire.
The home cooked bread, butter, eggs and jam was a wonderful touch.
We really enjoyed staying in Great Massingham over the New Year. Dominique and her family were away, but she and her husband communicated by phone and text and were available if we had problems, although we had none. We really appreciated the essential supplies they left for us, along with a friendly note.
The place is simple and comfortable, with everything you need for a short stay. We loved the log fire in the living room but were grateful for the other heating options in the cold. The resident chickens and duck are friendly - or should I say greedy?! - and the village is very pretty and well located, being a short drive from the coast, King's Lynn and other towns and local attractions.
I'd been a little concerned about being so close to the village pub, especially on New Year's Eve, but it's not physically adjacent and was not at all raucous, though I definitely recommend a visit.
All in all, a lovely place to stay, which would be great in the summer too.
Dominique and her family made us feel very welcome. Eggs, milk, butter, jam and marmalade were left for us, and we were greeted with warmth. When we needed something (only occasionally), we asked and were given. The cottage has a lovely lounge and comfortable beds, set in a beautiful village.
We had a great time staying at the cottage. Location was lovely...beautiful quiet village but near lots of local attractions. Cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped. All in all it was excellent and extremely comfortable. Dominique was a great host and was very thoughtful, leaving us bits for breakfast.
So glad you had a good weekend. I like 'Barney' ...I think we might adopt that name for the duck since he hasn't really got one. He was hanging around that kitchen door for a few days after you left!
This is such a lovely cottage in a wonderfully peaceful, laid-back village. Thoroughly recommend! We didn't get to meet Dominique and family, but everything went smoothly and we had a fantastic family holiday. Thank you!
We had a great time at Great Massingham. It's a beautiful village with quiet country lanes to explore and Castle Acre and Houghton House very close highlights. The accommodation was spotless and spacious - being a converted annex to the rear of their large old redbrick house. We enjoyed eating out in the pretty garden and my daughters particularly enjoyed feeding the four chickens. The resident duck is also very sweet. We only overlapped with Dominique for a few hours - but she was delightful and made sure we had everything we needed. Her mother was also very kind during our stay - finding toys for my girls to play with.
Michael and his family stayed in the cottage for a week. It was a pleasure to meet them and we can certainly recommend them as guests. They also left the cottage looking very nice, thank you!
We had a great time at Dominique's cottage. She and her family were very welcoming and provided us with lovely attentions, from fresh eggs to toys for my two year old. The cottage is very beautiful, spotless and the beds excellent. We enjoyed the sunny garden a lot and the village is a perfect example of Norfolk loveliness. We hope we can one day come back!! Thank you so much Dominique!
We had a lovely time staying with Dominique in Great Massingham. While she was not able to meet us when we arrived, she had sent instructions and had left a note and even some fresh eggs! All in all, she was very thoughtful and we did not have any issues with the accommodation.
The location is lovely, and very well situated to explore northern Norfolk, not to mention the lovely nearby Houghton Hall. The 'Dabbling Duck' is right next door, and we would highly recommend a meal there.
One of our party left an item of clothing in the cupboard, and Dominique called us as soon as she found it and kindly offered to post it back. All in all, highly recommended!
Hosts very friendly and helpful. Good cottage in lovely village. We enjoyed our short stay.
Adrian my husband I and a friend from New Zealand have just spen the most delightful three nights in Dominique's cottage. On arrival we were presented with fresh eggs butter bread milk and jam, which we enjoyed.
The cottage is very well equipped, the beds are very comfortable.
