I'm from France and I live for 2 years in Big Island.
I like the scuba diving, the reading, the photography, the nature, ...
Great secluded spot. Peacocks, oranges, avocados, lemons. Couldn't have enjoyed our stay more!
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The house on the Organic Farm was very roomy. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean but basic. When planning your check in time for the Organic Farm we would advise that you arrive during daylight hours. The road is very narrow and has a variety of surfaces. Myriam was very pleasant and always available when we had questions.
A perfect stay in Myriam and Alain's place! The cottage is very quiet and relaxing, the location is very good to visit Big Island! Very well furnished cottage. Myriam and her husband are truly welcoming people who helped us in everything we needed. You can also eat organic oranges and avocados, at your disposal on the trees! If we come back to Big Island we would love to stay there again!
Myriam and her husband are very nice people, who readily share their fruit, diving knowledge, and diving equipment. They quickly responded to specific requests for cooking equipment or other needs. On a clear night, the stars are beautiful, but being at a higher eleveation, there is more rain than at sea-level.
However, the lodging is at the end of a mile-long, one-lane road, unpaved in places. The apartment is not completely furnished (no real table to eat on), and is surrounded by construction debris. The neighborhood, as noted, has numerous "no trespassing" signs, making it impossible to even take a walk. We found the feral cats intrusive. If you are looking for an isolated, rural setting and do not mind the very rough road or partially furnished cottage, this might work for you. We would not consider it again, and would not recommend it to anyone who is expecting a complete vacation rental. The cottage, while spacious, would be better suited to a local resident, but not at the near-Honolulu rates we paid.
Quiet and lonely cottage on top of the hill, the road up the hill maybe difficult for a standard car, I will recommend at least a SUV to go up there, The location is great, close to Two Steps and Kona, We really enjoy our 3 nights there.
Alain and Myriam are very nice host. They were very helpful and know the area very well. It was very relaxing staying at the farm. Fresh orange juice every morning!
We were shocked at the road up the hill. Not only was it extremely rough but encountered numerous "private-Keep out" signs. Rustic, but enjoyable with the animals. Our fridge was unplugged and ran out of propane after under a minute, so didn't get off to a great start. House needed to have been cleaned before we arrived, not just after the last guest left. The offer of fresh fruit was nice but the oranges were all behind locked gates. Contacted Myriam about canceling our 2nd and 3rd nights. Never got an answer, just excuses.
Was looking for a place to end the trip. We only stayed one night here. Quaint and quiet, but it is a haul to drive up that high!
My parents and I stayed in the house of Myriam and Alain this past weekend. Their house are wonderful , they have beautiful garden with animals, it is really nice to wake up and make an orange juice with the fruit of the garden :-)
2 The bedroom and bathroom were clean, bed were comfortable, and they were very friendly to us.
Alain is professional diver , I will bring diving with manta ray by night or any other beautiful dive or snorkeling spot.
They both really know the island since he has been living there for many years , they will help you to plan your visit for sure.
Their home is located 5 minutes max from Captain. I would highly recommend their home to anyone interested in staying in Big Island.
