I enjoyed my stay at the Cozy Cottage.
The Cozy Cottage was as advertised: a rustic, idyllic cabin nestled in wooded hillside. In a rustic cabin one might expect to have an efficient wood burning stove, comfortable chairs, and scenic overlooks, but Ruby even added art on each wall and a record player with vinyl from several genres. It is a perfect getaway to read, write, and just be.
Ruby has a magical cottage and I can't recommend it enough. The one-room cottage was perfect for a wintry Wisconsin getaway in early January. The wood burning stove was fully functional and added to the cottage's charm -- the hosts also provided ample firewood and kindling for the weekend.
The property is down the hill from the larger house and even further down from the cottage is a small pond and creek with some walking paths. It's a very pastoral and such a peaceful setting. This is definitely a rustic getaway, but in the best possible way. No internet, minimal kitchen appliances, wood burning stove. But it's a great weekend getaway for individuals from Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago who need to unplug for a few days.
In fact I proposed to my girlfriend down by the pond after a light snow fell overnight. (She said yes!)
This place will always hold a special place in a hearts, and even if you don't end up engaged after a stay at Ruby's Cozy Cottage, I'm sure you will come back refreshed and wanting to go again!
Great place. Very homey. Saw our first snow of the year.
Communication was very good and the overall experience was great. The cabin and property are beautiful, no doubt about that. We also enjoyed all the unique finds inside the cabin - record player, books, art supplies. And I love wood burning fireplaces!
That being said, there were definitely mice in the walls and they woke us up at one point since they were literally inches away from our heads (inside the walls at least, not inside the living space). Also, the pictures aren't really up to date on airbnb, some of the furniture is different and the lights that light up the artwork didn't appear to work. And note the bathroom in the main house is a hard find at night - bring a light for sure. There were headlamps in the cabin, but most had dead batteries.
All in all, we really enjoyed our retreat and will probably be back. Places like this are what makes airbnb such a unique alternative to the typical hotel.
The cabin was wonderful. It had more than was necessary for a good time and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend there.
I recommend Ruby's place to anyone who wants to spend a weekend at a great, well-taken care of place in rural Wisconsin.
All you need to bring is food, clothes, water, flashlights and paper towels (if you're used to them). Ruby more than takes care of the rest :)
I arrived later than I expected due to flight delays but Ruby's Mother made me feel very welcome in her home. She knew I was a Diabetic from my discussions with Kore and offered me some tasty soup since there weren't many places to eat out in the country. We had great conversations and watched the Packers on Thursday Night football. She really knows her football! I was in town for training at Epic. She was knowledgeable about Epic and how it benefits the area. It was a most enjoyable experience. I will definately check to see if the room is available next time I come to Epic.
Nice cottage in a very beautiful and quiet surrounding, nearby Madison (nice city to visit!). We had a very relaxing stay!
Rich and I really enjoyed the cabin. There were no unpleasant surprises, It was just as explained. Loved the experience of waking in the middle of the woods, able to get out and hike around, catch the morning light filtering thru the trees, coffee on the deck, watching the ducks fly in to the pond. It was cool to feel we were in a remote location, yet be so close to the city. An altered state of reality!
Master Suite is located in a beautiful home in the hills of Wisconsin. The room was nicely decorated, bed comfortable, adequate room for cloths in the closet and a nicely functional private bathroom. Ruby and family were accomodating and pleasant. Quick with a recommendation for dinner or a drink or the best route to get to a destination. I had an absolutely fabluous evening with some Spotted Cow beer in the Gazebo watching the sun go down and stars come out.
We were so happy to meet Ruby and her mom before they left. Very great women. Come again! Hope to make it once your direction.
Thanks a wonderful person, even if, it was not for the best at first, my maid got sick, so the apt got a 24h delay for it's full cleaning, we worked it out. and finally enjoyed oysters and wine and wonderful stories in one of those secret little place around the corner, we both share love for. She is an amazing person, a supper one to have in your place, and I hope we'll meet again one day, maybe in Cannes!
Ruby and Jason stayed two nights with us - we thoroughly enjoyed their company. Easy going, kind, and funny, they both were a breeze to get along with and were very low-maintenance. Good communication regarding arrival times. And as Air BnB hosts, Ruby & Jason are super aware of the work that goes into making a place comfortable and welcoming - they surprised us by stripping the bed and tidying their room before checking out. We're just sorry they had to leave!
Ruby and her family were a pleasure to host. They not only were incredibly respectful, clean, and generous, but they were a ton of fun to talk with and get to connect with. Their light added a quick bit of wonderful to my apartment! Thanks- you are welcome back any time.
We very much enjoyed hosting Ruby and her partner, Clark. They were very gracious, respectful, and friendly and left the cabin very clean.
Ruby and her friend Clark stayed with me for two nights. They are totally cool folks, very clean and respectful. They left the place spotless, and in in the drink container on the sink a nice stem flower picked from my neighbor's garden -- nah, I'm messing about the garden part. ;-) They are very cool to chat with. You would enjoy having them as guests!
This Cozy Cottage is also tres chic! I loved the art, the turquoise couch, and the exquisite white leather chair. The bed was really comfortable too, and it was fun to climb up and be in the loft. I was very concerned about being cold, but the Scandinavian wood-burning stove kept it gloriously toasty.
Ruby is aptly named, because she is a true gem. Ridiculously accommodating, gracious and funny, she will make sure that your stay is as close as possible to exactly what you wanted. I would definitely go back.
