Hi - I'm a mid-career teacher on leave of absence from Albuquerque Public Schools. I'm doing a lot of traveling this year, including trips to see family in Knoxville, TN and Savannah, GA areas.
I recently stayed with Iris (before I signed up with airbnb) in Woodacre, CA while I attended classes at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. She is the one who told me about airbnb. I had a great time in Woodacre and Iris was a warm and welcoming hostess.
Besides studying Buddhism, I'm into hiking, journaling and recently have started learning how to make radio documentaries. I work with immigrant families in NM and my first radio piece will be about immigration issues.
Some recent books I have read include The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver and Reality Radio: Telling True Stories in Sound, by John Biewen et. al. Hmmm... favorite movies... Milagro Beanfield War and Camino de Santiago are among them. Spent part of my summer in a rural area in northern NM.
Can't live without caffeine in the morning! I'm a tidy and quiet guest. I do like to interact with my hosts when their available.
My last trip was to CA, OR, ID, UT and AZ. I camped about half of the time and stayed with aunts, uncles and cousins the other half of the time. Saw Crater Lake and Zion for the first time.
My life motto is Caminante, no hay camino. El camino se hace al andar. Traveler, there is no road. The way is made by wandering.
Thanks and hope to be in touch! N
