French painter. He is interested in Photography, Architecture and Urbanism, in some cases collaborating in exterior installations. When he finishes his studies in the 70’s, he starts his artistic activity taking part in some collective showings. In 1975 he moves to Alicante, Spain. Until the end of the 80..s he continues to do collective exhibitions and he initiates himself in individual exhibitions maintaining his connection with France. During his stays in New York, he takes an interest in abstract expressionism, Pollock..s drippings, Kline..s “materic” graphics, Kandinsky..s abstraction in “magmatic” vision of two-dimensional effects and all his improvisations. This marks the beginning of a new stage in his art; he identifies himself with this vision and this abstract conception of free composition and renouncement to objectivity. He exhibits again in several private art galleries of Europe and United States .Now he is interested in the search and direct contact with the public through his exhibitions in public spaces, structural montages that bring the artist close to his environment. Jean Paul has the unique ability to diminish the distance between painting and sculpture. When it comes to building imaginary spaces, impossible lights or inexistent shadows, painting is freer than sculpture. Jean Paul work play with our imaginative abilities, Therefore facilitating the communication process that it constitutes and which is the aim of any work of art. The extraordinary freedom with which he creates, invites us to experience a relationship within the same parameters of freedom, so we are able to unleash our imagination, search inexistent and magical shadows, or even beleive we are discovering forms, landscapes outlines, magic lights...everything, really derived from his own mind and never ending imagination. His, is a work of hands ..ing, an artist who truly works from the heart... Judy webber, Gallery director, FUSION GALLERY. Altea.
Developing I the area of tension ,abstration, Jean Paul work and his subject to continual change. In his paintings , collages, and drawings he demystifies art, rendering his artistic methodology the transparence . His paintings are expression of his thoughts on art as a medium, a criticism of its veneration and an analysis of its artistic and social capabilities. He choose the limitation of subjective color selection finds its part of deliberatate renunciation of any oral or artistic evaluation of his themes and subjects.
