Beautiful home as described. A bike ride away from all you'll need. Also had awesome conversations with Rick.
Thanks for the nice review Adey! I am hard at work finishing the remodel of the second bath as I speak. It will be spa luxury!
Good place, host is really friendly. I subtracted one star because there was only one bathroom which was shared among 4 people - the other one was under renovation.
Rick's home is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. He met me when I arrived and immediately made me feel at home. The house is spacious and clean. It exceeded my expectations.
I really enjoyed my time (3.5 months) at Rick's place. The room is clean, warm and spacious. The neighborhood is very quiet and a bus stop is only one minute away. Rick is a very nice and helpful person. I can highly recommend his place.
Thank you Fabian! Best wishes in your travels and you are welcome here anytime!
Rick's apartments are well kept and clean. I stayed for a week and was well located less than a mile from movies and food resources. His accommodations include WiFi, cable TV, common kitchen, common bath, and common laundry. I would highly recommend Rick's apartments to all.
Thanks, Leo! You're always welcome in my home!
If you need a place to stay temporarily on the east side - perhaps for an internship or while looking for an apartment as I was - this is the place to stay. Rick is a great, friendly guy who really keeps the place nice. It's in a quiet, suburban area a short bike ride away from Crossroads mall or Microsoft. Thanks for being such a great host, Rick!
Thanks so much Alex! It was a pleasure to have you stay in my home.
Best wishes to you on your journey!
"Room C", situated in a basement, is large and well-furnished. There is a wardrobe sufficient for one person. If you need more than five cloth hangers, you might want to bring your own.
The carpet looked like it had not been cleaned in a while.
The entrance door cannot be locked from either inside or outside the room. The patio door does have a lock. However, to say that the room has its own separate entrance is a bit misleading because there is no walkway leading to the patio.
The woodstove cannot be used because it has no hearth.
The wireless Internet goes down several times a day. Sometimes, an outage lasts for hours. The Internet password is easy to guess. Furthermore, Rick could not recall the last time the password was changed. This means that your connection could be hacked from the street, a neighboring dwelling, etc. If you care about identity theft and/or privacy, you might want to connect through a VPN as I did.
The ad claims that the bathroom is “shared with another room”. This is misleading on two counts: 1) there are three other rooms and 2) a bathroom is shared with people, not rooms. Since Rick rents out four rooms accommodating up to seven tenants, you may end up sharing a bathroom with as many as six others.
The shower stall’s interior (29”x26”) is somewhat larger than the average casket (28”x23”) but smaller than anything Home Depot advertises on its website. Usable width is further reduced by a 3” shelf and 2” soap dispenser. Because the door is only 60” high, expect water from a shower head to splash all over the floor.
If you want to use a kitchen upstairs, you may need a container to carry food and utensils from and to the room. While you are there, Rick may watch you from an adjacent room periodically emerging to direct your cooking and garbage disposal activities.
Last, but not least, Rick has a nasty habit of entering a tenant’s room while the tenant is out of the house. On my second day, I left a toothbrush and toothpaste in the bathroom only to find both in my room upon return from work, along with a text message from Rick saying “Please keep your personal items in the room. There is not enough room in the bathroom for everyone”. He could have put the items at my room’s door but chose to enter the room instead. Be careful what you leave behind when you go out.
Over the past year, I have been in and out of the Bellevue area and stayed at four different locations (not counting two-star hotels). In my experience, Rick charges twice as much as the competition for inferior accommodations.
The room is very comfortable and nicely furnished. Rick is a welcoming host. I recommend to anyone needing to be in Bellevue or near Redmond, because the location work great.
Great (email hidden)fe and quiet neighborhood in proximity to Bellevue's small strip malls. As advertised, rates and amenities were great. Rick was simply amazing!
Rick's place was warm and comfortable on a pair of chilly nights in December. Remember to take off you shoes when entering! In that regard it reminded me of home in Minnesota. The room had a nice big TV and a refrigerator. He also had an iron and steamer so I looked like a pro at my business meeting the next day. Thanks Rick!
