In the middle of the Forest of Dean, this country cottage with the most exquisite country garden is a must. Caroline was easy company to be around and her accommodation eclectic and comfortable. We hope to return soon.
Caroline is very welcoming and a friendly host. Very large bedroom with en - suite shower. Door and steps down to the outside. Parking on the drive. Breakfast kindly supplied and use of kitchen allowed. Two good pubs about a couple of miles away and the George Cafe in Newnham for breakfast and lunch. You do need a car but a great place for a long weekend or even a weeks break. Plenty of places to visit nearby. We went to Ross on Wye, Chepstow and The Forrest of Dean. Friendly cat.
Caroline was amazingly friendly, she has a beautiful home. The house is a lovely old stone house with the most gorgeous gardens. My husband and I were welcomed with a lovely cup of tea in the garden. Caroline's house and garden is in a peaceful spot with amazing views across the Severn. It's ideally located for exploring the Forest of Dean. Our room was huge and it was great to have a separate entrance so as to not disturb Caroline.
Caroline also had very helpful suggestions for pubs and places to visit. Our only disappointment was that we were there for too short a time. Pickles, the cat is one of the friendliest I've met.
I absolutely loved staying at Caroline's....aside from her wonderful home, Caroline is simply wonderful too, she made me feel so welcome immediately and constantly throughout my stay. I loved 'my' big room, which was very quiet and private and with it's own front door...it also looked over the most wonderful garden and views. The bed was just great, comfortable and cosy beyond belief...all that you want from a bed! The room could be darkened if possible so no early morning light disturbing your sound sleep.... It was also really great having an ensuite, big bonus. Another bonus was the DVD player which I welcomed after a long day on my feet...cosied up and watched a movie! Walking around the garden was also a joy because of the glorious smells from the beautiful flowers and trees...which I probably am more aware of living in the city! I was ate breakfast one morning in the garden, enjoying the company of the nosey little lambs! Perfect in all respects.
Caroline herself is the most loveliest of people, a truly genuine joyous person who made feel so at home in her home....we'd lovely chats and she made the most perfect mint tea fresh from the garden!
I would definitely return to Caroline's fabulous home but this time I'd make sure I take in the spectacular walks/scenery on offer in the surrounding area (I was on a cookery course with not a lot of free time!). I would highly recommend Caroline and her beautiful home.
I'm looking forward to a return visit!
I had a fantastic stay. The room was lovely. Great location and felt like I had my own little house. Caroline was very welcoming and friendly.
Caroline was a wonderful host, making me feel welcome and at home. I had a great couple of nights at her home which is well located in a beautiful part of Gloucestershire. The room is spacious, and having my own entrance made me feel less intrusive. All in all a great stay!
Lovely quiet room with a very comfortable bed, and very warm hospitality. The en suite shower room was an unexpected bonus. A perfect stop-over for us, thanks Caroline.
Caroline made us feel incredibly welcome, helping out with directions and suggestions for places to eat. Her home is beautiful and quirky, set into a lovely garden with amazing views of fields and forest. We went for a long walk around the local area on a route Caroline recommended which was great.
The bedroom is big, bright and comfortable. The birds singing in the morning was just fantastic to wake up to. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Caroline was very welcoming and gave us breakfast next morning. The house is lovely and the room is spacious and has its own entrance. The area is very tranquil. Littledean jail just down the road is worth a visit for it rather eclectic crime-related collection. I would definitely recommend staying at Caroline's.
What a delightful experience staying with Caroline in her country house. She was generous with her advice about the local area and the room was comfortable and really spacious. The whole house felt warm and welcoming. Highly recommended. We couldn't have had a better time, really. Charming host, lovely house.
Caroline is the perfect guest. It was very easy to chat with her and she is a very polite and nice woman. Tidy and respectful. It has been a pleasure to have her in my house. She is welcome anytime!
