Chicago native, avid traveler (both domestic and abroad), animal lover, promoter of world peace. Can't we all just get along??? I'm a very liberal and progressive thinker - this flows through to my ideaologies about most things (politics, social issues, vacation destinations, you name it!)
I work as a regional sales rep and trainer for a New York-based company that builds/hosts school websites - Educational Networks - we power the best school websites in the world! I'm also a licensed leasing agent for Chicago Apartment Finders - so I just love the Airbnb concept! I'm very laid back but love a good debate - I respect the opinions of others even if/when I disagree - but that might be difficult to discern if we're having a truly heated debate. At the end, however, we can share a beer and a hug, even if we remain on opposite sides of the issue at hand.
As a guest, I will treat your home/space as I would my own - or better, since I'm not a neat freak but I do appreciate cleanliness and order. I am a homeowner myself (a historic Chicago bungalow which I'm in the process of restoring to its former glory) so I completely understand all aspects of both respecting and caring for someone's space while utilizing it as a guest.
To fill in some of the suggested blanks -
5 things I can't live without: books and book stores, vacations and travel, chocolate, iced tea, at least one pair of fabulous black boots.
Favorite travel destinations: South Africa (I plan to retire there!); Western Europe (I've seen much of it, quite a bit left on the agenda); to name a specific favorite city - Paris, because it was everything I dreamed it would be and more, and each time I go back, it never disappoints! Domestic favorites include San Francisco; Austin, TX (one of our company offices was based there); NYC; New Orleans; Miami (for short stints, like a 3-4 day weekend).
Yet-to-be visited travel destinations I'm dying to see - Buenos Aires, Lisbon, Barcelona, Northern Africa (Morocco, Egypt and wherever else I can fit in during the trip). The list goes on but these are at the top. I do have a major trip planned for the end of 2012 - visiting 2 friends in the UAE - one living in Dubai, the other in Abu Dhabi; will also visit Jordan while I'm there - can't wait!
