I am a design lover, travel enthusiast and easy-going.
Don't stay here and with this Host !!!!
First of all, the address isn't the one published. The real address is Strathgowan Av. The one used in the Airbnb site is of a building without heat or hot water, as a guy who lives there told me when I arrived.
When I entered the place, it was pretty like the pictures in Airbnb site. and it's all. There was no internet, for what I have paid. I went to Toronto to visit a hospital. I am a doctor and would need research medical articles in Internet. That problem hadn't solution during my hole stay there(12 days). Everything was informed to Airbnb which handled professionally, searching the best resolution, which was doing a partial refund to me.
There was no TV too !!!!!!!! When I enquired her about the TV, she told me "you think you are in a hotel" . A TV ??!!!!!! I think It is as basic as a refrigerator or a oven. There wasn't no microwave oven too.
By the way, there wasn't water in the bathroom sink. Everything I needed to do, I have done in the kitchen, shave, brush my teeth.
The heat system wasn't capable to keep the apartment warm when the temperature outside was below - 10.
So, I don't recommend this apartment and this host to other users of Airbnb site. if I could, I don't give any star to both ( apartment and Host ).
I do recommend the site (website hidden) for travelers and I would use it another time.
Would not recommend to anyone if you value your life. The door was ripped open and there was broken tables in the room. I had to find boarding elsewhere.
The place was great, It was so good to get into a warm clean and nice place after landing in the icecold Canada after our stay in the warm Cuba. The beds were comfortable and the place is spacious and homy. There are great restaurants and shops in walking distance from the apartment and the bus stops right outside the door. The subway is also very close by but we took the bus to the subway station anyway since it was so cold. I can really recommend this place and communication with Biba was very good. Thanks Biba
i stayed here for two nights and it was great to stay here. This place is clean and tidy. I strongly recommend this place :)
Biba's place was pretty rundown. The photos in her ad were what I expected but the things in her apartment that were not photographed left a great deal to be desired. It is obvious this apartment is not "lived in" as there were no personal touches, no clothing, no dishtowels, no soap.... We were surprised when we came home to a soaking bed on our second night. Granted our host agreed to refund one night's stay due to an unforeseen roof leak, but all in all my trip with my son was a little dampened by our dismal experience.
OF ALL HER APARTMENTS, I MUST SAY THIS IS THE MOST NICE ONE! KITCHEN WAS FULLY EQUIPED, FURNITURE WAS NICE. AND THIS ONE REALLY HAD WIFI. HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SLEEP AND COOK SOMETHING FAST, THIS IS A GOOD OPTION. NICE AREA, NICE BUILDING AND PEOPLE. AND IT IS NEAR THE SUBWAY.
Biba's place was clean, extremely well located (only about a 5 minute walk to the Lawrence subway station), and warm. I mention the warmth as my visit was during the winter and as someone from Texas, I would have been miserable if the heating wasn't working. Not only was the apartment and building plenty warm but the shower also had great water pressure and the warm water never ran out. All in all, a great place to stay if you are visiting Toronto and want an affordable and spacious place to stay at that is centrally located.
My only critiques are that the couch in the living room is not the same as the one in the pictures (though it's still quite comfortable) and the two doors closing off the one bedroom from the living room were not there during my stay. This too, wasn't a problem as I enjoyed the openness in the apartment.
The pictures look better then what it really was like. If you're looking for a bed and a shower then this is your place. The internet was shared from another apartment and only worked for 4 hours and you have to be in the last bedroom to use it. The lamp by the bed wasn't plugged in because there wasn't an outlet for it plus it had black mold on it. The bathroom wasn't all that clean. I decided to take showers at the gym rather than doing it there. There was broken furniture along the hallway. One half used toilet paper for our 4 day stay. Thank goodness our friends allowed us to stay at their place a few nights so we can actually be comfortable. We wanted to leave early morning around 7 but we couldn't since the person we had to drop the keys off wasn't at the shop till 10am. We came back after 10 and she wasn't there yet so I had to slide the key into her shop. I recommend looking around for a better place it was definitely not worth the 100 and some dollars a night to stay there. I've stayed in Rome and Prague for 40 bucks a night with more to offer than this place. I took pictures and I will try to get a refund because this place wasn't worth it at all.
The apartment was warm and cozy. When we arrived, the room wasn't ready and we had difficulty to contact the host by phone. We had agreed to meet for the keys next to the building, but when we got there, we were told to meet the cleaning lady who would open the door for us. We ended up wasting some time waiting to enter the apartment and getting the room ready (missing bedsheets and floor not clean) because there was confusion and delay in communication between the host and cleaning lady. Besides that, the apartment had spacious rooms, comfortable beds and couch. The carpet in the living room was stained. The building is old but well located. There is parking on the property.
I recommend Biba and her lovely Yonge st apartment. I have stayed in this apartment and it was exactly as pictured: clean, bright and pleasant to stay in. The location is very convenient, on one of the major Toronto streets so close to shopping and restaurants, yet still quiet and safe.
