Experienced traveler and have worked in Africa and other countries. I teach law and human rights to the public, and am based at a law school in Seattle. My travel preference is to learn about a place from the locals. I appreciate the finer things but can be happy in rustic surroundings. I generally travel with friends or my adult children. I have friends all around the world and include connections to friends in my travel destinations. My most recent work/fun trip was to South Africa - after working in Durban, a group of us did a safari in the Umfolozi Game Reserve, and then off to Cape Town to revisit those places that I last saw when I worked there for a year during Apartheid. The changes were both hopeful and discouraging.
As an airbnb guest, depending on the particular traveling companion, I like to connect with the host, get advice about the local area. My food choices are general enthic, I hit Vietnamese, Thai and Indian regularly. In Seattle, quite a foodie town, I do a lot of salmon. As a guest, I'd have a small footprint - minimizing the impact of my stay.
