From Jamaica, love my country, community, family, and meeting new people.

The property is owned by Shaari's grandparents the Pattingers and the overall setting is tranquil up in the hills about 20 km from Ocho Rios. Collen (Mrs P) along with her husband Robert, all their family plus Faye the employee and her son all are charming, courteous, polite, friendly and convivial. They all made me feel so welcome and I am extremely grateful for their first class hospitality, staying on their lovely property in the hills of Oracabessa was a blast. Thankyou to the Pattingers for making my stay so enjoyable.
My trip to Jamaica this summer exceeded my expectations! My hosts were polite, sweet angels who made my stay comfortable and safe. Mrs. P met me in Ochie to bring me to the cottage, provided me with a phone to use while there, offered me coco water and fresh fruit - just lovely, generous, awesome people to meet and know. The caretakers on the property were helpful and friendly. The property itself is breath-taking and well-maintained - fruit trees, flowers, birds everywhere! I was able to cook, shower, sleep and entertain in the privacy of my own cottage with cable TV and wi-fi access. There is a pool within steps of the back patio doors. The beautiful, blue ocean is located at the foot of the hill from Gibraltar Estates - which you can reach in a 15 minute walk. There were days I didn't leave the cottage just to enjoy the beauty of the property, take photos, hang out by the pool, chat with the hosts and caretakers and take in all of the scenery. I cannot WAIT to return to Jamaica and stay with them again! I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to stay somewhere safe, beautiful and affordable on the North Coast.
Peaceful cottages in the mountains! This spot is only a few miles off A3 but it feels a world away. Colleen, her husband and staff are amazingly friendly. I feel we could have chatted for hours if we weren't so lazy doing nothing and being recluses. These cottages are perfect for the independent traveler who doesn't need/want a lot of unsolicited tourist attractions and has a plan of what they want to do on-island. There are few restaurants around as Oracabessa feels more residential. Not touristy at all. It really is Heaven.
Our first impression was of "Coming Home". The cottage is just next to the main house and there are plenty of fruit trees on the property. In fact, I parked under a tamarind tree, got out, then started snacking. Yum! Our fridge was stocked with a jug of home made juice from the fruit on property, sugar, creamer, etc. We had fresh fruits on the table and dinner waiting for us upon arrival.
We spent 4 days doing absolutely nothing. Earlier in the visit we went shopping with Fay to get groceries so that she could prepare meals for us during our stay. BEST. IDEA. EVER. We were able to eat traditional meals for breakfast and dinner, delivered to our door. Don't forget to leave a nice tip at the end of the trip to say thanks.
Bring some bug spray as the cottages are rustic as described. No AC but fans and an amazing pool are available. Wifi was broken when we were there but it was refreshing not to be connected.
The cottages are a perfect location to get easy access to James Bond Beach (~$6 US entry per person), Ian Flemming attractions, and Dunn's River Falls. We did a bit of touring of ruins of old forts along the main highway but not a lot more. Otherwise, Colleen's place is a perfect launching point to anywhere on the island.
We'll be back!
From Montego Bay: A3, Ian Flemming Airport is a major route marker, R at Gibraltar Estates Dr*, keep right , continue for 3/4 miles, keep right follow little brown sign to "Heaven", L at Mango Tree Rd., continue 400 feet, cottages are on the left.
*There is a Shell Station just past Gibraltar. You have gone too far. The street is during the turn.
From Kingston: James Bond Beach is a major route marker, Shell Station on L, at top of hill turn L unto Gibraltar Estates Dr, then see above.
Turn by turn pictures to come.
The Cottage was clean and off the beaten path! it was really nice to stay here.
It is about a half hour away from everything. So if you are going to stay here make sure you pick up some food on the way to town. Colleen and her family are wonderful hosts, and are willing to answer any questions you have.
Overall we had a great experience.
If you're looking for a place anywhere on the island of Jamaica, stop searching because it doesn't get any better than this. My husband and I recently had the joy of being hosted by Colleen at this charming cottage. The space is tastefully decorated, spacious, clean, and access to a pool with an ocean view. The main house is next door and everyone was helpful and responsive while at the same time giving us our privacy.
Our hosts picked us up from the bus station as well as dropped us off. The town is a bit outside of Ocho Rios but easily accessed by taxi, however the beauty and nature of Oracabessa make it difficult to want to venture away too far. After traveling around the island we could not have picked a better spot to end our trip and were only saddened by the fact that our vacation had not started there.
One of our favorite airbnb finds by far!
Colleen's home was located at the top of a mountain and was extremely peaceful and beautiful - a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
She and her husband were fantastic hosts and were very warm and welcoming, even feeding us on our first night there.
There was fresh fruit growing on the property and we felt very at home.
I would recommend Colleen's place to anyone!
This cottage is exactly what we were looking for. It is as pictured so no surprises there as we have viewed on-line properties before only to be disappointed on arrival. It is with-in walking distance to James Bond beach, the local shopping area and just a short ride from several activities such as horse back riding, zipline tours, swimming with dolfins etc. and within a few minutes of this location a day pass to the all inclusive Beaches Boscobel Resort can be arranged on short notice. All the benefits of an all inclusive for the day without having to stay there.
The property is impeccably clean and the cottage is very accomodating with the ammenities most travelers require including screened windows, a loaner cell phone and fresh fruit from the property available on request. The crystal clear pool has a breathtaking view of the ocean below that one will not find at an all inclusive. Breathe in the cool mountain air, spoil yourself with an afternoon nap in the hammock, or enjoy a picnic in the gazebo and if you don't feel like cooking.....no problem, pick up the food and a cook will make you a REAL Jamaican dinner. We feel so spoiled here! The cool air at night and the morning breezes negate any need for air-conditioning. Pick up from the airport can also be arranged so no hassle with transportation.
Traveling with children or another couple? No problem....this cottage is next to another one with access via the veranda and a washer is available to stay on top of the childrens laundry. Imagine going home with a suitcase full of CLEAN clothes!
I have been traveling to Jamaica for more than ten years and I can honestly say this has been my best experience so far so if you are looking for the real Jamaican vacation this is where you want to stay and we will most defenitely be back!
