I love painting and try hard to keep myself knee-deep in paint. Happy to have folks visit our little village and to offer our extra space for visitors to stay comfortably.
We had a great winter weekend at Randy's guest house ("the barn"). The barn is rustic, warm and cozy with some wonderful modern design touches that keep it from being too cabin-like. If you are at all a fan of 80's and 90's obscure post-punk music, you'll appreciate the huge collection of vinyl and CDs in the main room (there's plenty of other music too). We were pleasantly surprised to learn that Randy and Mike run a small commercial baguette bakery in the front house. Randy gave us a warm loaf fresh out of the oven on Saturday morning as we headed out to explore Shelburne Falls and Northampton. It was fantastic! We highly recommend a stay with Randy and Mike, and hope to return at some point in the future...perhaps when the flowers on the Bridge of Flowers are in bloom!
We loved staying here -- it was comfortable, cozy, full of great books and music, and perfectly located. Randy and Mike were excellent hosts -- warm, friendly, and full of interesting information. We will definitely be coming back!
This place is amazing and the hosts are wonderful. The space was immaculate and is full of charm. It's full of great music, books, and artwork. It's pleasantly rustic and hip at the same time. The bed is very comfortable. It's in an ideal location, where it feels nestled away but is right next to the town center with everything in effortless walking distance. The hosts were exceptionally gracious and easy to coordinate with. We plan to go back. In the few days since our visit, I have already suggested this spot to other close friends looking for a get away.
The barn is wonderful place for a couple to get away and relax, with a friendly atmosphere and greeting by Randy. Incredible fresh baked bread, teas and coffee. Great music selection to choose from, and plenty of books to peruse on all subjects! The village is quaint, but busy with locals and visitors alike. Great food throughout, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The barn is just within walking distance to the village, with a great view of the river, the flower bridge, and the town as a whole. Check out the art shops, maybe you'll catch some of Randy's artwork. It looks like we just missed a show by 5 days, but hope to see one the next time we visit.
It was exactly what we were looking for, a little haven away from the city, and can't wait to come back in the Spring or Summer.
Thanks Randy and Mike!

Randy was a great host and his place was perfect for what we were looking for! The pictures do not even do justice...it is cozy, comfortable and has some unique touches to it.You can tell there was much thought put into the design of the house. In addition, the location is extremely convenient - just steps from downtown Shelburne Falls so you really do not need a car. We already cannot wait to come back in the summer.
I hesitate to rave about Randy's property solely because I don't want competition for it in the future! My sweetie and I absolutely adored the place, and in fact I told Randy when we checked in that I was never going to leave. But reality set in and we sadly departed after our allotted 6 nights. It is beyond charming, super-comfortable, VERY roomy, and stocked with a better book and music library than our own home. Everything is in immaculate condition, and you have your own thermostat to control the heat. The upstairs loft is full of natural light, and the cathedral ceiling added to the feeling of spaciousness. The old wood floors and exposed rafters and beams are gorgeous. The bath has a full-size bathtub and the shower is great - the 3-setting shower head is mounted plenty high even for the tallest of folks. The kitchenette was well-stocked and more than adequate for our needs, and the apartment-sized fridge and separate freezer compartment stored our items admirably. Be sure to visit McCusker's Market down the hill for your morning coffee and pastries (bagels delivered fresh from New York!), and don't miss Elmer's Store ((website hidden)) for an amazing breakfast. We will DEFINITELY be back! Randy is super-nice and responds quickly to any messages. Thanks for everything, Randy!
Staying at Randy's place was an unique treat. It is tastefully decorated and just really charming. With two floors, we found the rental to be quite spacious and perfect for our needs. Though the unit is attached to a house, it seemed very private, with French doors looking out on the back lawn and our own parking space. It is a extremely short walk to the downtown of Shelburne Falls, which was equally as charming with a waterfall and numerous cute shops. Randy was a great host, super friendly and easy to get in touch with. This is one of those rentals that will make your trip that much more special and memorable, and I look forward to staying here again.
Randy was a friendly and accommodating host - after a warm welcome he left us a loaf of freshly baked bread, cookies, and a jug of apple cider in the fridge. He was helpful with dining suggestions which proved to be excellent. It's a one or two block walk into town and to the famous bridge of flowers. The house is so charming, a pleasure to sit in the downstairs library living room among a thousand CDs and record albums, and a record player covering the wall from floor to ceiling. It's tastefully furnished in eclectic mid century and the upstairs has a sofa and sitting area as well as bath and bed. It's got cool art work. There is easy parking on the property and a private garden outside the french doors to the yard.
We contacted Randy with short-notice in desperate need of a weekend getaway from the city. He was prompt in responding, great with communication, and kind enough to accommodate us. Shelburne Falls is a quaint little town with friendly folks and plenty of surrounding areas to explore. The photos of Randy's little studio/cabin/magical mini-house seen on here simply do not do it justice- it is cozy, full of character and charm, and beautifully decorated with touches of both modern and antique (just our taste!) The space was clean, inviting, and perfect for a quiet seasonal break from the city to lay low, cozy up, read aloud or listen to records on vinyl (fully stocked with great books & music). We loved it and wished we could have stayed longer! Highly recommended!
The "Barn" is lovely!
We stayed over for a long weekend during fall, and loved it! It's cozy, special... with everything you need to set out for adventures in the Berkshires and Pioneer valley, plus a huge music collection (yes, vinyls!!) to listen to while relaxing...
Randy is a wonderful host, he was very attentive over the mail / phone to be there to welcome us, explain details, give local advice etc., and even left us some goodies like coffee, orange juice and some some sweet baked goodies that were yummmm... thanks for everything Randy!
Shelburne Falls is great starting point for the whole area - we found everything easy to reach, and it has a well stock market, and a couple of great dining options for the aftermath of hikes! As well, you can just start walking from the village and be inmersed in the hills, without using the car if you wish!
