Great place as advertised. We were in town for Jazzfest and a wedding! Marta was very accommodating. Central location and easy to access all activities within 20 minutes. City Park close by our daughter and cousin loved going everyday. 18$ cab ride from French quarter. A nice relaxing space of calm to return to after enjoying the wonders of the crescent city.
Marta and her husband were great hosts. The space was roomy, home-y and clean! It's a great spot to stay in New Orleans if you have a car (we did), but it is also fairly close to the streetcar. We had a wonderful time!
Wonderful place to stay in NOLA! Marta and her husband Bill met us upon our arrival and showed us the house and gave us some suggestions around town as well as some stories of Katrina. The house was in a great area and very close to the city. Marta and Bill gave us suggestions of how to get around and it worked perfectly for us. The house was perfect for our family of 5. It was stocked with coffee, spices, oatmeal, etc. Having a washer and dryer was also a bonus! Communication with Marta was always easy throughout the process! You could not pick a better place to stay while visiting!
The house is wonderful...looks just like the pictures. Really love the kitchen! Neighborhood is quiet and safe. You are next to the freeway..but have a tall wall that divides you. You can hear the freeway noise when outside, but not when you're in the house. Would definitely stay here again when visiting New Orleans. Highly recommend... you will not be disappointed! We did get to meet Marta and her husband on arrival...very nice couple!
Also for people who want to bring your dogs, this is especially nice...lots of area to walk your pups...no traffic to worry about!
Thanks again Marta!
Marta was absolutely great. We arrived on a Saturday evening and Marta was waiting for us at the cottage with her husband. They gave us a tour of their home, explained every detail (heat, wifi, where to find anything we need, she even helped us blow up the air mattress), give us some great food suggestions) and were on their way. The entire trip she was quick to answer any of our texts/questions!
The home fit 5 of us comfortably. They supplied linens, towels, and a variety of things we had missed to bring!
The house wasn't far from the French Quarter / Bourbon St, easily accessible. We took cabs or they suggested a streetcar(trolly)!
We will definitely love to come back and stay again!
Easy to communicate with...
Marta was fantastic. She met me at the house, showed us around and made us feel very comfortable and welcome; what a sweet lady. The neighborhood was safe and 5 min from everything in NOLA. We had a blast. So much in fact I stayed longer than planned.
We had great days in Marta's house. It was just perfect! Clean, bright, big and located in the safe and peaceful area.
Even we couldn't meet Marta during the days, she informed everything we needed and it was easy to contact with her.
We enjoyed our stay at Marta's cottage on our 2 day visit to New Orleans. The place was clean and contained all the necessities we needed to make our trip pleasant. Marta was easy to get in touch with and offered valuable insight on things to do in the city. Thank you!
The apartment was comfortable and well appointed in a quiet residential neighborhood. Our host greeted us at our arrival and was very helpful in explaining how the TV controllers worked and in answering questions about places to see in New Orleans.
Mom and Bill have created an incredibly comfortable space, and I love how my mom has decorated the place. The back courtyard area is peaceful, with a small fountain, a variety of plants, and welcomed shade on a hot day. I also enjoy sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee. The house is located in a convenient spot, with easy access to all of New Orleans and Metairie. But do drive slowly on the streets around the house; potholes are a New Orleans specialty!
We always really look forward to our visits here!
Marta & I met in Jr. high in Chicago. I moved away ,but she was in our wedding in 1970. We have both retired from teaching and I recently visited them in lovely N.O. where they were great hosts. I would recommend them because they are flexible, fun, and love the arts ie. music, theater, fine arts, and food! Yes, food is an art form in New Orleans. Bon Appetit!
I've known Marta and Bill for many years; they are both interesting and artistic and the type of people who make friends wherever they go. Their cottage is a perfect gem! Cozy and convenient to the city and located in great old district that has been beautifully restored since Katrina. Near bus lines and parks, and like everything in New Orleans, close to many good restaurants. You couldn't find better hosts in a fun-loving and artistic city, full of good music and great food, than these two hosts who truly enjoy and are part of the specialness of New Orleans!
