Anything that calls for some combination of exertion and adventure is top notch in my book. Let's climb that mountain, take that train ride, dive into that book or hold that yoga pose for just a couple breaths longer. I'm pretty cliche, in many ways, so just look for the places where "hipster nerd" and "sociable jock" intersect or diverge and that's where you'll find me playing. Music, local cooking, alternative films, new languages, running...I don't do any of it particularly well, but go after most all of it with great'n'earnest enthusiasm. One thing that i haven't gone after is centering my profile picture. It synced with that Zuckerberg social media site and I haven't changed it. Pardon the sliver of my face...but isn't the ocean in Taganga, Colombia beautiful?
My sense of passion and purpose anchors on understanding different permutations of change: at an individual level, what makes the difference between a survivor and a victim? At an organizational level, how does a company or country bring the best out of its people? At different levels of the world, how can states and faiths and various actors make diverse communities feel vibrant, strong, and meaningful…all in overlapping and sometimes conflicting territory?
And on the topic of change: love and deeply appreciate how Air BNB is profoundly changing the nature of travel. Here's to you, then. Cheers.
