It was evening by the time we reached the villa. We were 7 of us. The butler Shova met us before the start of the steep road and guided us to the villa.
It was indeed one of the most beautiful and tastefully designed holiday villa that we had seen. 1 master bedroom, 1 medium sized bedroom and 2 very small bedrooms.
following are the points that should help a person decide to book this property or not.
1. The butler's contact number passed was not correct. I kept trying to contact her for 2 days after which I contacted Daniel and he gave me some other number.
To do this, had to buy a local calling card.
2. No air cons and No ceiling fans in this house. The house was a furnace at this time of the year ie may. There were Small pedestal or bladeless fans in each room which could hardly throw any air. No fan in the huge living and dining area which includes the kitchen. A few of us were not comfortable keeping the Windows and doors open at night due to insects and high population of lizards. It was like sleeping in a sauna.
I messaged Daniel about the same and asked if he could arrange for some portable aircons or fans or arrangement for the night at any alternative place. Still waiting to hear from him.
3. We had booking for 3 nights, however we left after one, and shifted to another apartment, thus doubling the cost of our vacation
4. This house has no store close to it and the owner doesn't even approve of keeping basic necessities like soap, toilet rolls, dishwashing liquid, starter kit for tea coffee milk, water. Had to pay for everything and either get everything on our own or ask the butler to get it maybe next day.
5. It is very far from the beach. Walking is not possible. Availability of taxi is also remote as it is on a hill. No ready reference contact numbers for taxi etc.
6. At night the main gate down the hill is locked and though the key was made available, it was very difficult to be on that road without light. There is No staff present at night to assist you.
7. With little bit of basic facilities and air con, vehicle etc, this property can be a 5 star plus but right now can't rate it high as it had turned our holiday very very uncomfortable. Shova, the butler was full of smiles and ever ready to work..
A little relief would be in place if Daniel would have said some comforting words. We would like airbnb to take this matter and provide us some refund from the owner.
Daniel was a pleasure to work with. I never met him but he always answered all my questions in a timely fashion. His home "penthouse" is beautiful and is in a great location! We only stayed for one night but will be back to enjoy the amazing rooftop. Diana the housekeeper was amazing. She was at the house to greet us and showed us around.
Thank you for opening your home to us! It was exactly what was posted on the site. We will be back or at your villa in the Seychelles!
My wife and friends had a fantastic stay at the villa, which is absolutely stunning. The location is unbelievable -- up in the hills with nothing but vegetation and the beach down below in view. The butler is just the icing on the cake. She's the sweetest woman, the nicest hostess, and the best cook on the island! Highly recommended for a relaxing stay on an idyllic island.
This place is the perfect, perfect hide-out. Be prepared that you don't want to leave anymore ... and yes, nicest beach of the island is Anse Intendance, which is the one closest to the house.
Also should add that this was probably the cleanest place I have ever rented thru Airbnb.
Daniel´s villa was just amazing!!! Communication with him was ok and he answered our question and helped to make our stay comfortable.
First of all let me comment on the review from the previous guest because it is in my opinion unfair! Yes, the villa is not a beach villa that is true - but after seeing the pictures of the listing it is obvious.
The drive way to the villa is a little bit steep but not that much that the guests would be like prisoners in the villa during the evening! And after reading that you need 4x4 car - good joke - there are not a lot of 4x4 on the island. We had a toyota that was something between SUV/MPV but not 4x4. There were 6 of us in the car and the car had no problems at all to make it up to the villa.
Second, I want to comment that Raj and his wife - the butlers were just amazing!!! The food they prepared was always delicious!
The villa is well furnished. A/C would be great but it was ok with us.
Be prepared the internet is VERY expensive. Our total bill was 190 EUR for one week stay (no downloading of any movies/songs) for just regular e-mails, sites and social media - so be aware of that!
The only downside was that we had to buy our own detergents, toilet paper - it was not a big deal but this was the first time we came across this.
I would totally stay in the villa again!!
We were not met by the host. It took us an hour to locate our contact when we arrived. It was frustrating after a long flight.
The house is beautiful. There are high ceilings in a beautiful wood. There is more than enough space for you and all your guests. Everyone can spread out nicely. The rooms are all decent sized and nicely appointed for an 'eco' home. Two of the bedrooms are significantly larger than the other two. But all have enough space. All the bathrooms are decent enough. They could use some updating, but its merely an appearance thing. The balcony is great for outdoor dining and enjoying the evening. It wraps around the whole house. The sunsets are just glorious. You can see Intendance Beach and Takamaka Beach as well. The addition of Shova, the chef/housekeeper, is the best. She is a great cook and definitely keeps the costs down while in Mahe.
However, the house is NOT ACCURATELY DESCRIBED. This home is NOT a beach villa by any stretch of the imagination. The better title would be 'Treetop Hideaway' or 'Mountain Chalet'. The house is NOT close to any beach as the description suggests. The closest beach is a 10-15 MINUTE DRIVE. The description states that the beach is a 3 minute walk... which is just untrue. The walk is about 35-40 MINUTE WALK. And its a long walk too.
The area is very safe. We never felt scared unless you count the bats, lizards, and other creepy crawlys. But those are to be expected being that we are in the tropics. The safety aspect may be due to the fact that this house is on top of the MOST DANGEROUS, steep inclined driveway ever. You MUST rent a car and it MUST be a 4x4!! Again, this was neglected to be mentioned. The driveway is the worst. The first small car rented did not make it even 1/4 of the way up the driveway. I had to leave my friends so that I could drop off our bags. The walk up is meant for the very physically fit. Because the driveway is a treacherous mountain side, we never went out after the sun set. I cannot comment on the evening nightlife because we were inadvertent prisoners on the house.
And lastly, the internet...a bond of 250 Euro is required up front however our bill was only 101 Euro. I only know of the charge as I did not pay the bond ahead of time so I was given the bill thereafter. I wonder if I would have been given the bond difference if I would have paid ahead of time. The WiFi connection is also spotty.
Overall, although the house, itself, is gorgeous. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend this place. We chose this place only because we thought it was a beach villa. Because it is not, I would not stay here again. Its too bad.
Daniel was amazing from the beginning. To start, he brought in a real Christmas tree for us in the city. The neighborhood is amazing. It's is literally the middle of SOHO. And don't even get me started about the ACTUAL PENTHOUSE. The housekeeper was extremely helpful also. Everything is super high tech. The couch is extremely comfortable and there is a massage chair. Some things had changed from pictures but still no legitimate complaints. Thank you for making my graduation trip incredibly special!
The Beach Villa in Quatre Bornes was a beautiful house in a wonderful location. If you want a quiet, off the beaten path experience on Mahe, this is a great choice. Finding the house can be a bit difficult for a first-time driver on the island, and the driveway takes nerves of steel, but these are very small complaints to an otherwise wonderful visit. The nearby beach, Intendance, is one of the island's most beautiful, and it was surprisingly empty. The house's chef can prepare some incredible food if you give her some details about what you like to eat. Overall a great experience.
It was our second time staying at the villa which indicates how much we like it! The house is comfortable and warm. The view is incredible and the best beach in Mahe is just down the road.
Daniel and Sarah were the perfect guests. The entire booking was a pleasure from start to finish. We would be happy to have them again!
Daniel is a high-end guest who expects only the best, I can only recommend him to the most thorough and professional Hosts out there...
