Hi my name is Jerome. Welcome to one of the best cities in Europe. I am more than happy to host you. Enjoy the entire apartment alone during your stay.
Jerome's well located, about 10mins walk from the metro station and in a safe yet vibrant neighbourhood with lots of bars, shops and cafés. Lovely building, big flat, fantastic features such as original wooden floors, terrace with garden view for summer months. I also really enjoyed the fact that you could take drinks & biscuits from the closet and simply leave some money, a little bit like a mini-bar :) Be aware however of a few downsides: 1) During my 3-night stay, the internet connection was absolutely terrible, almost not working the whole time. Jerome however said this was exceptional and would be fixed soon. 2) The 'real oven' mentioned in the text seems to be broken. The microwave is fine though. 3) If you rent the flat during very cold weather (as I did), please be aware that the heating does not get extremely hot. It's doable but you'll need to wear an extra jumper.. 4) The TV mentioned in the text is nowhere to be found!! Without Internet connection or TV, be sure to bring a good book to entertain yourself during the evenings!
A recommander !
Nice and cosy apartment very close to great restos in Ixelles. Apartment was clean and Jerome is a very caring and nice host.
Everything was fine and easy with Jerome and the flat. Really nice adress
Nice flat in a convenient location. Extremely comfortable bed.
There's currently (September) work being done lower in the building and one builder didn't sing that well! (They work only during weekdays though.)
Would want to come back to this flat if/when we go back to Brussels.
We (my husband, two year old daughter and myself) enjoyed our stay at Jerome's apartment. It is simple and nice. Wireless internet was good. The building is very secure and access is easy. Be sure to get good directions from the host prior to arriving as it can be very difficult to find and navigate Brussels.
Unfortunately there was quite major renovations and construction taking place on the building both internally and externally, which we were not made aware of in advance. This resulted in the apartment being a little dusty due to dust coming under the front door from work being done outside. We weren't at the apartment during the day so any noise from the workers wasn't an issue. The up-side of this is that the building probably has a better staircase now plus some other new additions.
The kitchen is quite basic, which is fine for those that will eat out a lot, but not great for preparing meals in.
Jerome is a nice host, well organized and quick to answer any of your questions. You just need the secret code to enter the building and then the apartment. It's really practical since you don't have to plan a meeting for the keys... you can enter the apartment right away. The apartment is nice: many windows, clean bathroom, comfy bed and a small balcony. It's on a quiet street, but nearby place Fernand Cocq, place Saint-Boniface and not far away from place Flagey, so lots of nice restaurants and bars all around. I really enjoyed my stay.
We are an Aussie couple in our mid 60s and this is our 11th airbnb on this holiday. It was easy to find and nice and close to transport, shopping restaurants. The apartment was lovely and quiet even though the building was being renovated in July 2012. Jerome couldn't meet us but his instructions and communication was first class. We would stay here again without doubt. Try it you'll love it.
It was an experience with mixed feelings: Jerome was pleasant to communicate with. Unfortunately he was not available when we arrived. So he emailed me the code into the building and his apartment. Since we took the train, we got out of the Brussels-Luxembourg Station and walked for 15 minutes to his place. The surrounding was very quiet with a few shops along the way. There was renovation work being done on the ground floor and the stairs are narrow. One should travel light, otherwise, climbing up to the apartment would be a struggle. It was spacious for a couple, the kitchen was well stocked/equipped and the bathroom was functional. There was no ceiling light in the bedroom so we had to content ourselves with the lamps on the side tables. There was also no curtain so my husband attached a piece of cover, which we found beside the window, by screwing it onto the window frame, so that we didn't feel so exposed. Fresh towels were provided, the bed was comfortable and the TV was great. However, we would have appreciated it more if the place was tidied up, the garbage bin emptied and storage space provided. And it would certainly be helpful if Jerome had sent somebody to meet and guide us. Honestly, there were moments I felt lost and helpless looking for direction while dragging our luggage behind us. After figuring out our location, we were relieved and were able to go around in buses.
Good location! Comfortable flat.
