I stayed at Giulias Loft for 5 weeks, from Beginning December to 10th January.
Quickly said- this wonderful Loft became truly a home for me! It is emanating the spirit of Giulia and Dino, who are both such beautiful persons, welcoming, supportive and simply lovely. They help you with everything!
The loft is spacious and cosy at the same time, which especially in winter is a beautiful combination. The kitchen is well equipped- which is nice, as in Winter not all restaurants in the surrounding are open, and the bedrooms each have their own flair. I tried all beds :) and I love them all!
The surrounding is a little more wild and raw than the usual tender hills of tuscany, but which are within easy reach too.
I would any time recommend Giulias Loft as a perfect place to retreat, to stray around in the surrounding and to rest and just be.
Thanks so much dearest Giulia and Dino for offering this creative, sweet place to the world!
Mille Mille Grazie e baci baci
Giulia was a fabulous host!! I can't say enough about how helpful and welcoming she was...where to begin? The beginning, I guess! Even before we arrived we were corresponding by email; I had never been to Tuscany before and she was very helpful with planning, even scheduling a cooking class for us and making dinner reservations for our first night. She was flexible with our check in time, accommodatIng our last minute change to make a detour to Pisa on our way to Chianti and when we got to the house there was a beautiful plate filled with fresh Tuscan fruit and a bottle of chilled Proseco awaiting us. We had to be the most geographically challenged guests she ever had (sorry, Giulia!) and she was available and patient when we called her, lost, even handing us over to her husband at one point because his English was slightly better (thanks, Dino!) and calling later to make sure we made it back to the house.
Now, about the house. It was lovely, comfortable, clean and well stocked. The location is beautiful, secluded (part of a four home compound) and quiet, but within easy reach of the little town of Gaiole where there is a grocery, cafes and shops. It's ideally located for touring all of Tuscany, but there is much to do nearby (wineries, medieval towns, wonderful restaurants, hiking - Giulia provides a list of nearby activities and attractions, as well as recommendations which are definitely worth following up). I wish we could have stayed longer.
I would absolutely stay here again...thanks, Giulia and Dino!!
Grazie mille Giulia!
Giulia was flexible, warm and inviting. Her house was exactly as shown in the pictures: beautiful. The place was beautiful, the scenery mind-bogglingly amazing, and the stars...the stars! I felt so lucky to have found this place and so grateful that Giulia let us stay another night (as we didn't want to leave!)
Giulia gave us perfect directions--it is a little difficult to get to the house, just because Chianti is so remote. And when we arrived, we had a long list of suggestions. All of Giulia's suggestions we tried were great. Make sure to go to the market and make a home-cooked meal at least one of the nights: staying in is just as fun as exploring out.
Great house, right in the middle of the Chianti wine area.
Perfect starting point for traveling around throughout the whole Tuscany (Pisa, Luca, Siena, Florence, Montepulciano, ...).
The house, Giulia and her husband are perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful. The rooms fit perfectly to our needs (staying there with 2 couples). Due to the large amount of good restaurants, pizzerias etc. around in Gaiole, Radda, ..., it was very hard to use the very well maintained kitchen :-)
I can recommend the house for traveling around in Tuscany!
(Just make sure to prepare against mosquitoes in the area).
Very nice house, simple and beautiful as it is in the pictures or more. Giulia and Michaela help us with every single thing we needed, thanks again to both of you! We had peaceful and relaxing time there, very friendly local people and amazing landscape, we'll be back for sure!
probably one of the most beautiful and relaxing places we've ever been to. one cant really describe it.
it's just extremly peaceful and special! we felt home from the moment we arrived, spent 5 wonderful days and enjoyed it as much as we already miss it by now!
thanks to charming maria who picked us up, thanks to the donkey who carried our stuff and thanks to michaela for the welcome-cake and wine and the nice chat. And of course thanks to giulia who made this holidays possible and was a trustful and important person for all my questions regarding the arriving and planning of our trip. we want and will come back!
boris and conny
When we arrived at the home, Guilia had prepared the rooms set up for our two children, left a fruit platter out for us, along with a special bottle of their family sparkling wine. Knowing it was my daughter's 5th birthday the week of our stay, she also left a small gift for Arabella. I thought this was very thoughtful and gracious of her as a host. The house was very charming, as I anticipated from all of the photos. It was perfect for our family.
Giulia was on vacation but one of her friends met us and there was a nice basket of fruit and wine to greet us. The apartment does look like it's pictures, and is a nice open living space and good sized apartment. We like the modern look in the pictures, and the styling is very true to the pictures. The kitchen is well stocked with items to cook with, and many food items from other guests which is helpful. Giulia also had a very nice crib, high chair, and toys for our son which we really appreciated. The apartment is also located near two charming towns, and well located to explore Chianti and also the cities of Florence and Siena. Giulia was also very responsive and helpful in preparing us for our visit.
That said, there are some cons that I will share. We didn't find the apartment very clean overall, and did raise this with Giulia directly. Someone else was cleaning while she was away, but we would have expected a cleaner apartment since we pay for a cleaning fee. The floors were dirty (there was dust and hair), and the bathrooms had an odor that got stronger as we stayed. Again, I think the apartment just needed to be cleaned better. We also didn't find the bed in the master bedroom very comfortable due to the detached metal frame that moved anytime my husband or I shifted in bed.
Overall, it's a good apartment but make sure the cleaning is better in the future.
