After a career at UC Davis, I retired to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. I am surrounded by life – blue oaks and meadows, deer and turkey. These are charming but destructive animals requiring much ingenuity to foil their depredations of my garden – still a work in progress as I try to understand them. As a biologist, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I have been an airbnb guest several times. There is no better way to know a place than through airbnb. I have stayed in Fort Greene, Bushwick, and Crown Heights in Brooklyn, visiting my NYC daughter as she migrated around the city, getting to know these diverse neighborhoods on a highly personal level that would not have been possible had I stayed in a hotel in downtown BK. As well, my hosts have been interesting, quirky people, sharing their own stories with their lodgings.
I am now an airbnb host, offering our cozy condo in Davis, CA to visitors (La Buena Vida). I look forward to meeting my guests and hope to live up to the standards of those who have hosted me!
