I stayed 6 nights in spring in Harriet’s apartment and found it beautifully light with plenty of morning sun. The street was lined with trees in blossom and the local community gardens had burst into new leaf, with daffodils, bluebells and tulips in bloom. The apartment is clean, comfortable, well equipped and restful. Harriet was most helpful in meeting my daughter early in the morning to give her the key for me as I arrived late in New York. There was enough room in the sitting room to properly entertain members of my family who live in New York without that odd feeling of inviting people to drink an aperitif sitting on the edge of one’s bed. The apartment is decorated in such a personal way, it felt as though I was staying with a friend rather than in a rented property.
You get what you pay for and I think we 'scored' with this apartment. Harriet was always available and easy to deal with, she was gracious when I arrived more than an hour after expected and also when we phoned more than once because we couldn't work out the t.v. The apartment is airy, warm and sunny and laid out so that individuals can have their 'space'. The kitchen and bathroom are modern and clean. The beds are comfortable with nice new linen. We got a surprise to see tea, granola and biscuts left out for us. Location - 10/10. It's a great place to return to after a big day out. I would recommend this apartment,( it is comfortable for at least 3 guests) and definitely stay there again.
Harriet was a fantastic host. She was aware if we arrived correctly (she wasnt there to receive us, but she arranged a very good solution to let us in). Her apartment is very well located, 10 minutes from metro station. Also is near to whole food market, spectacular place to enjoy the food. The flat is enough for 3 people, was very clean and warm. We enjoy it during 9 days. The neigberhood was very safe, has a lot of bars, restaurants, etc....many nice places to eat or drink. Harried made us some recomendations what was really nice.
And the last day when we had imporant problems with our transport to go to the airport, Harriet was really helpfull and helped us very quickly (even, she called to the taxi driver to ensure if we were picked up correctly!!), really nice. We recomend her apartment.
The only disadvantatge was the noisy heating at night, so it could be unconfortable for sensitive people.
We really liked the location of this apartment. The neighbourhood has tons of restaurants, bars and shops, and is about 5 min from the metro. The apartment itself is very big for NY, and faces out to a quiet, clear space at the back of the building - plenty of light. It was very clean, and Harriet left good instructions and local info, plus breakfast goodies. She was also flexible about our leaving time, which was much appreciated as we had a late flight. The only catch is that you can't adjust the heating (of course you can always open the windows!) - although this is typical of older apartment buildings in NY.
We spend christmas in Harriet's apartment with my mum, and we had an overall great experience. The apartment is very big for NY standards, has a lot of natural light and is extremely quiet. Location is also great, quite close to the subway and wiliamsburg bridge, and in an area full of cafes, restaurants and bars. Kitchen and bathroom were very clean and worked perfect ( we cooked our Xmas meals there).
Overall, highly recommended apartment. I would definitely repeat the experience!
We stayed at Harriet's apartment for 4 nights in the beginning of December with my mum and really enjoyed it. Very nice location and neighborhood. Everything went well.
The apartment is spacious and nicely decorated, and the pictures are correct. Warm water 24/7 and heating (though the noise of the heating system was occasionally slightly disturbing). Otherwise the apartment was nicely located since it was facing the rear and thus no street noise.
Harriet had left us some nice breakfast goodies which was very kind.
The best apartment to be in, even during a super storm like Sandy. Nothing beets Harriet's.
The neighborhood is great, a good community sense in times of trouble. Harriet kept in touch the whole week, sending us great tips on survival. The apartment was spacious, upbeat and well equipped. We felt super save.
Will stay there again anytime!
We had a great stay at the lower east side apartment. Everything was exactly as expected - spacious, quiet , clean and airy. Harriet provided us with lovely perks like breakfast, tea and coffee and super soft bath robes. The neighbourhood was cool (& grungy), with heaps of cafes, restaurants and bars all on the doorstep.
Harriet's description of her apartment says spacious and it is spacious, light, and peaceful. The kitchen is well-equipped and has a glass table that can seat six people. There's an intimate corner of loveseats in the living room for conversation.
It was perfect for my husband who wanted to cook for our son who is a college student in New York and my mother who wanted to get into all the details of her grandson's life.
The neighborhood is an exciting place at the moment. It's great for the young and hip but seniors can enjoy the atmosphere as well. Delicious bread and chocolate can be found at the Essex St Market.
Jean Pierre dit: Quartier agréable, appartement agréable, cuisine bien équipée, chambre calme et sommeil sans cauchemar.
Harriet was also attentive to our needs, giving us information about parking and warning us in advance of work being done on the back of the building. Fortunately it didn't bother us at all. We had a lovely stay.
Harriet's Apartment was perfect, In the middle of everything you need. Harriet also had a lot of information about the area and New York which was of great help. The apartment is large and had no issues with room for three people. Great communication when question were asked, would happily stay there every time I visit New York.
Tout s'est très bien déroulé . Marie, l'amie de Harriet a été très arrogeante pour la remise des clés . J'ai récupéré l'appartement dans un état impeccable .
Harriet was kind, gracious, courteous, and a considerate guest! She brought an awesome vibe and I would host her again in a New York minute! She left the apartment in immaculate condition and even left a parting gift. There was no sign that she had a cat and dog during her stay or upon her exit. A truly lovely family and genuine people! Five Stars
Harriet, Marie, Jasper and Ashfield was a great guests. They took excellent care of the property and were well received by the neighbors. They all are welcome to stay again anytime.
We felt very lucky to have Harriet and her crew stay with us in DC - they are wonderful guests and will be welcomed back any time. It was so interesting to learn about the film Harriet is working on. As far as the house, everyone was considerate and quiet and they left the place in wonderful shape. Highly recommended.
Harriet was amazing! She was very pleasant to communicate with and took care of my place like it was her own.
Harriet was an excellent guest at my apartment. She was clean and respectful. I could not have asked for a better guest!
Il y a des fois comme ça où les choses se combinent bien, rapidement : ce fut le cas! Merci d'avoir été la première locataire!
Sometimes it's easy : so it is with Harriet. Thank you to be our first guests!
Harriet was a great guest. Happy to have her!
Harriet was an ideal guest. Considerate and quiet with a wonderfully behaved dog, Jasper. Her's was a working vacation so she wrote upstairs in the studio but was very curious about the local area and took advantage of some of the great nearby walks. I highly recommend her, she is smart and personable but quiet and respectful.
