I was a Historical Researcher. I'm retired and living with my husband. I have one daughter and one son, both of them are studying abroad. I love travelling, cooking, gardening and watching Korean drama.

Saigon is a great city and Nhien's place helped our experience be one to remember. The room itself is spacious, clean and very chic. With a fridge, A/C and good wifi it feels like a little home. We even had our own rooftop garden. There is a shared kitchen and I'm pretty sure a bathroom just for the use of guests, again very clean with free toiletries. Tan (Nhien's husband) was also there to greet us and help us in anyway he could. There were hand drawn maps of the area and guide books to borrow too. One thing to note, if you are new to Saigon and arriving either by bus train or plane, just get a taxi to their place as it is a little confusing to find on foot especially with luggage. Overall great experience, would recommend to anyone!
A very warm welcome at the airport with a colorful arrival board printed for our daughter ! The apartment was equally colorful and warm. Unfortunately our stay was very short in the city and we had long days filming for our travel series (website hidden), so we did not get to spend much time talking to Nguyen and his family. Very quite and good location for exploring this mesmerizing city !
Nhiens's location was great - a good distance from the backpackers district but still close enough to be a part of the city. The family was extremely helpful and accommodating (the son stayed up until 3am to let us into the gated building). They also provided hand drawn maps of the area and several (extremely delicious) food recommendations. The room also had a rooftop garden connected to the room which was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the space to anyone.
Nhien's place in District 3 is great!! I know I know. ...all the action is said to be in District 1. Well that's maybe a mile on foot or a couple of bucks in a taxi if you want to schlepp down there. But district 3 is also great and definitely alive! There are some very good restaurants in the immediate vicinity and all kinds of shops a few meters away. The house is great with some cool roof gardens to hang out in. All is shared in the house, so if you don't get what you need it's your own fault:)
I will surely be back in Nhien's place. Thanks for everything!
It was simply amazing! The room was just as pretty as it is in all the pictures - even better seeing it in real life! Everything was so artistic and creative, it's like you're always walking into an artist's mind.
It had two ACs, and the room was very spacious. I'd call it a flat even: it had it's own refrigerator (you get complimentary 2L of bottled Aquafina water, coffee and tea), bathroom and toilet with hot/cold shower, small balcony with potted plants, a large room that's your main room, living room (sofa and TV), working desk with lamp, lots of shelves and your own two-seater small coffee table. It was really my kind of room - there were hours where I couldn't bring myself to leave the room because it was just so cozy inside - honestly speaking, I could live there for weeks!
Even at the airport, I could easily ring up Nhien via a Vietnamese simcard and clarify the details of my arrival. Our flight had been delayed for 2 hours so Nhien was more than accommodating when we arrived. We were greeted by her son Do, her husband, a friend who spoke English for her and toured us around the building where the flat is.
Nhien taught us how to do our laundry and gave us the key to the room (which had a very cute stuffed blue penguin toy keychain on it!). Privacy and security was awesome. We really felt secured with the 24-hour security by the gate and that the place wasn't really along the high way although just a stone's throw away from the main street.
If you want to experience and see what it's really like to live in a residential neighborhood where the children go to school, how normal morning commute is like, and find really great food - don't second guess, Nhien's place is where you should be staying!
Apart from her family's hospitality, we were really touched with the city maps that Nhien prepared for us for our stay. They sketched out walking maps for us and had already highlighted where the good places to shop/dine are in our neighborhood! There even is a walking map of the backpacker area and Ben Thanh market.
All in all, we couldn't have picked a better place to spend our short stay in Saigon. If given a chance, I would definitely stay back here LONGER and finish up all the must try's in the walking map!
When we left, even if it was already late, Nhien and her son Do was really helpful and loving as we bade them goodbye. Do made sure we got a taxi for our late flight and Nhien gave us a parting gift from her printing company which was really thoughtful.
District 3 is where you want to stay in HCMC! Specifically, at Nhien's place!
Nhien was a great host, I didn't see the family often and they left me to my privacy..every one was helpful on my arrival and departure. The room and balcony were perfect. A great place to stay!
The room was absolutely brilliant, in a great location, large space and our own courtyard and bathroom. Air-conditioning was wonderful and bed was comfortable. We were warmly welcomed and given maps of all the major sites. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Saigon.
Our stay at Nhien's house was wonderful! Nhien and her family welcomed us warmly, they were very helpful and even though we were out a lot and didn't get to talk to her so much, it was very nice when we did.
The room is great and we enjoyed sitting on the terrace so much! There was also water and coffee and tea for us in the room and a fridge which was great to have.
The location is also really good and we walked everywhere. In the mornings we went to the street stands around the corner and bought delicious Vietnamese breakfast and fresh juices.
We felt safe at all times.
I would definitely recommend Nhien's place for people who like to have a quiet, beautiful home base with a very kind host to explore Saigon.
We had a lovely stay. Their son came out to meet us late at night when we arrived and helped us with our bags. The bed is comfy and the room big and clean with a mini fridge perfect for water. There's a nice big balcony just for your room with a little table and 2 chairs. We were asked to water the plants once a day. It was nice. There's a large wardrobe for clothes and things. It's pretty and as pictured. Your bathroom is up a short stair case and through the family's kitchen, and pretty humid, but they are usually only in there during rest time for lunch from about 11:30-1:30 or so and maybe once in a while in the morning. Our host made us her homemade yogurt and it was delicious. Green tea and strawberry. Be aware it is about 4 or more flights up stairs to the bedroom. There's an elevator up 2. You will get one key and there is a door man. We did feel very safe and had privacy. Aircon works great. Samples of toiletries for us in bathroom and some water and tea, coffee, etc for us. Plus towels to use, wifi, and handwritten maps of nearby food, sights, plus guidebooks to borrow. It was a lovely stay and We'd highly recommend it.
