Eva's log cabin, built in 1923 and upgraded to be comfortable for today's standards, was a great place to stay and a great location for our first trip to Asheville. It gave you a feeling of privacy in an area that seems to be developing. It's in the west side of Asheville which we preferred since we were close to great restaurants and local music. We would recommend Eva's cabin as a truly cozy place to stay.
Great neighborhood just a hop over from downtown across the river. No surprises as the cabin description was spot on. Was able to relax when needed and the food options are exceptional!
We had a wonderful time at Eva's cabin in West Asheville. She was very accommodating when we needed to tweak the reservation, and was available via SMS for questions. We stayed 5 nights and the cabin was so much more relaxing than a hotel. Our friends went back to their hotel room with doggie bags and later found they had nothing to eat it with - not a problem here.
The cabin itself is great for a couple and could accommodate one or two more guests if needed. The bathroom is small but hey, it's an old cabin. The beds are comfortable and Eva has just about everything you'd need. We were attending a wedding, so to find the iron and ironing board was a bonus. Eva even had frosted beer glasses in the freezer for us! Asheville is the Beer City of NC, so we made good use of them.
The location is private and quiet. We enjoyed listening to the birds during the day and the cicadas and tree frogs in the evening. It seems like most things were at most 15 minutes away, and it's pretty easy to avoid the freeways if you're staying local. The River Arts District is 5 minutes away as is the Biltmore, and downtown is like 10 minutes, Blue Ridge parkway 10-15 minutes.
Some condiments, butter etc were in the fridge, and we had plenty of coffee filters. There's a toaster, microwave, small stove. The weather was rainy so we didn't need it all that much, but the AC worked great and was much appreciated when it got sticky. There are overhead fans in the living room and both bedrooms. We used the washer and dryer a couple of time which was great - you can get away with packing less.
Bring your own hand soap and shampoo which is what I prefer anyway.
We spent a very happy 5 weeks in Eva's cabin. It was a perfect little home for my husband, our infant daughter, our large dog, and me, as well as a couple of family members that came down for short visits during the summer. The cabin is small but beautifully decorated and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need. The kitchen has plenty of dishes, glasses, cookware, etc. Linens and towels were good quality, and the beds were very comfortable. While the cabin itself is rustic, furnishings, appliances and decor are mostly new. We also loved the nice, flat yard, the huge front porch and comfortable back patio, and we cooked on the really nice gas grill several times a week. Location was ideal for us-a lovely small residential neighborhood in West Asheville, walkable to Riverside Park and (a longer walk) to stores and restaurants on Haywood Road. Eva was responsive and helpful when we needed her. We were sorry to leave when the summer ended!
We stayed for 3 nights in this beautiful space. We found the cabin to be super clean, adorable, and filled with everything we needed to be comfortable. The bedding and bath linens were yummy, the kitchen very well equipped and the porch was especially spectacular. We delighted in sipping wine and watching the lightning bugs come out at night. The neighborhood is quiet and the cabin is set back a bit, so there is privacy. Eva was very nice and responded immediately when I had any questions for her. It was wonderful to stay in such beautiful surroundings and let the stress melt away. I don't see myself renting a hotel room, when you can get such comfortable accommodations at a reasonable price. We would stay here again for sure!
We had a wonderful time in the cabin. It's cozy & warm; yet, comfortable, clean and well supplied. The porch was wonderful--large and comfortable. Many nice glasses of wine while overlooking the Asheville neighborhood. Wireless worked perfectly. Location can't be beat--it was nice and quiet, near a wooded area. But it was also right down the road from Carrier Park, the dog park, West Asheville and downtown Asheville. Eva was responsive and available. We will definitely return on a future trip to Asheville!
This was a great place. At the end of a street in a quiet neighborhood. Liz was available by text if I needed anything.
This cabin was a perfect place to spend our vacation in Asheville!
For starters, Eva is very helpful, responsive and catered well to our needs. Above all of this, she is very kind.
The cabin was great! It's a short drive to all of the hip spots in Asheville, but it still has a quiet secluded atmosphere. We woke up hearing birds, not cars! The front porch is fantastic for lounging and relaxing, while the back outdoor sitting area gave us a great place to hang out and grill. The inside of the cabin was equipped with extremely comfortable beds and furniture. It is fairly minimalistic in nature, but you certainly have everything you need for a great vacation.
On the whole, I would very strongly recommend staying at this wonderful cabin in Asheville, and I will certainly use it again on any future trips to this amazing city.
Pulling onto the gravel drive at the end of the road, my family and I were captivated by the low profile of the structure, the grounds the cabin is nestled on, the furnished outdoor 'rooms' (the ample porch: the back patio), and ultimately the efficient layout of the cabin itself. The recently remodeled kitchen and bath felt continuous with the original structure. The preserved features (wood floors, charming doors, beams, and a completely wood paneled living room) smacked of the late 40's or 50's. The kitchen was kitted out with an array of new pots, pans, a colander, knives, a large cutting board, and serving pieces. We were thus able to prepare a delicious dinner for four with ease. Towels and bedding were also like new, and a stacked washer & dryer was in place for maintaining them.
The neighborhood (dotted with newer residential structures that all look to be from the same drawing board)) recycles, so that was another benefit.
Our trip to Asheville was everything we were hoping it would be. We most definitely would like to return to this spot that exuded such a positive 'vibe'. We could only hope to be visited again by the falcon that landed on our car the first morning
Eva's log cabin in West Asheville was amazing! My friends and I stayed there a few days and it was such a beautiful place to be. The porch was our favorite place to sit and read, drink our coffee or beer and chat. It is in a part of town that has a lot of cute restaurants, record store and only a short drive to downtown.
Eva was communicative and responsive to my questions about Asheville and the place. I can't recommend it enough. If I were to come back with a partner or friends again, I'd definitely stay here.
