Always outdoors and mostly into nature trips, road trips. The the rest of my time are spent on doing nature-related research in Palawan and helping local communities in their nature conservation programs.

Doods arranged for his brother to pick us up from the airport which was great.
Doods works in town so was not at the house to greet us but his other brother, living behind his house, was there and were made to feel very welcome.
The place was exactly as described and his brother cooked our food every day, fresh and 5 starr quality. In fact, one of our days we were going to eat out but decided we would rather eat back at Doods house.
We would deffinately go back even when we travel to the US, it is a good place to 'stop over'. Highly recommend.
Before we arrived Doods had our directions via email that were easy to follow. From stepping off the bus until we left, everything was handled for us. His family took care of our meals and they exceeded our expectations. Our tour was all taken care of, and we are grateful for the assistance. The home was perfect for getting a local feel on our trip through Palawan.
We had a wonderful time in this house. The view every morning was just great. I can still imagine myself sipping coffee at 6am outside with that cool breeze..That was priceless for me. We can't thank you enough Doods for making our stay comfortable and for arranging our transpo..
I like to cook and I must say this house have better kitchen utensils than our previous accommodations..
It is a quick walk to the beach and we had drinks once at a nearby resort.
Thanks for staying with us and we look forward hosting you again!
Doods is "The Dude!" My boyfriend and I had originally booked two nights here but disappointingly realized we needed to take an overnight bus to El Nido as we were crunched for time on our Palawan trip. Doods helped us with not just booking that bus, but he boarded that bus from Puerto Princesa and alongside his brother's help, he called us as he was a few stops away to make sure we weren't waiting outside too long -- the bus stops right in front of his house! Not only that, but I managed to leave my passport at his place and he swiftly arranged the safe and quick delivery of it within 24 hours of just leaving his place. Stand-up guy, very friendly and personable, as well as resourceful, intelligent, and super helpful. He answered every question and was very easy to communicate with in regards to any concerns or general tourist inquiries, even offering to make any necessary arrangements and reservations.
His home is absolutely beautiful. If you're looking for a unique, rustic, and authentically local experience, away from the tourist and resort-ridden Puerto Princesa... This is your new home. Here, about an hour van ride from PP lies soothing peace, warm comfort, and genuine Filipino hospitality in the form of a cute cottage sitting in the middle of a rice field. Accommodations are spacious, clean, and Doods even offered us a stocked pantry/refrigerator for our own raving appetites! In addition, his sister-in-law is an awesome cook and we agreed it was some of the best food we had during our entire trip in the Philippines. Wifi was decent, but don't expect anything super fast, but good to get some work done if needed.
During the day we rented their motorbike for just 600 pesos (where he graciously gave us a discount after) to drive through the countryside to our Underground River tour -- A ride most people just take a shared tourist van for. His brother answered all our questions about the bike, as well as gave us the proper directions, and made sure we were comfortable before seeing us drive off. In addition, just a short walk away is a secluded beach, part of Honda Bay, and across the street are a couple of Sari-Sari's (roadside market stands) ran by the friendliest local families. There we picked up some cheap San Miguel's and snacks to eat on the porch whilst watching the beautiful sunset.
I cannot say enough great things about Doods, the Matilliano family, and the wonderful hospitality and accommodations he had prepared for us. I would strongly recommend his home to anyone looking for peace, with a little bit of adventure and a good dose of local flair. Thanks so much for everything! I can't wait to come back soon :)
Doods' place is very very wonderful, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Doods and his brother provide many informations about traveling, and his sister in law always prepare delicious dinners and breakfasts for us, we feel relax and enjoy it.
Joey was really friendly and knowledgeable. His family were friendly helpful and easy to talk to. Great place to stay for peace and quiet. Not a lot to do but great to relax. Highly reccomended.
I did not expect that I would meet such warm-hearted people and see some peaceful atmosphere in my short trip.
I have been working in the Philippines for six months now, though I was not able to visit some place outside of Manila yet.
Despite of my three days stay, I realized that this is the Philippines that I have been imagining about when I was still in Japan. And I was amazed that there were so many green things like trees, mountains and views and that life there was also simple. Local people always gave me a big smile and talked to me even though I am a foreigner.
While I was there, I spent almost every time sitting on the wooden couch at the terrace where I could breathe fresh air and see some scenic views.
Doods my travel host was quite a busy person but he still made time to show me around his hometown.
In addition, his sister in law Jovy was an excellent cook, and his family were all really welcoming people.
They made me happy by taking care of me a lot.
If you would like to relax and have a nice time, I strongly recommend to visit his place in the country side.
It is absolutely fantastic!
That was my first time to use Airbnb and I felt so lucky because I had an unforgettable experience in my life.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Doods and his family for this wonderful time.
The Matillano family truly made us feel welcome in their home. Doods is a great host as he grew up in the area and knows much about Palawan topography, wildlife and history due to his nature of work - such a great resource!
The home is a lovely cottage surrounded by rice paddies, trees, and farm animals. The highway is a 5-minute walk away making it easily accessible by bus/public transportation. Sari-sari stores are nearby - from vegetables, canned goods, shampoo to chicken, you'll never run out of supplies. The beach is a quiet 10-minute walk away and usually it was just our family of 3 there with 1 or 2 fishermen. (Imagine having the beach all to yourself!) Since it's off the beaten tourist track, we had a glimpse of true provincial Palawan living. We made a great choice of spending the night here before our flight back to Manila instead of inns/guesthouses in downtown Puerto Princesa.
Highly recommended for families! Our 9-year old, who is a true-blue city girl, loved "hanging out"with the carabaos and all the space nature provided.
my Filipina bride and me have been there for our honeymoon and it was the perfect place to be. We discovered not only a genuine beautiful place but also wonderful people whom are Doods and his family. Our journey was going from one good surprise to another.
Doods and his family have an amazing real sense of hosting and they make you love and respect their place as much as themselves.
Doods's sister-in-law is a very good cooker and after the surprise of the first breakfast, we decided to entrust her all our dinners that she prepared for us with fish and seafoods from the local fishing of the day.
A place to go talaga, there you will meet a genuine quality of hosting that will invite you to fall in the "comeback comeback" syndrom of Palawan.
Salamat po Doods and Co, we hope to see you back very soon

Palawan is such a beautiful island! Doods' place is a great way to get a local taste of Palawan, away from the city yet has access to interesting sights and experiences. Doods himself is very communicative and helpful since my first inquiry and made sure that me and my companions will have a great time overall in Palawan. I highly recommend the place and Doods as host.
