The cabin is laid on an amazing plot of land. We stayed there over an October weekend and the foliage was amazing. The cabin sits right on the lake, and there is a large grass field nearby. Also, there are some really great walking/hiking trails within walking distance. The lake/hiking areas were also really great with our dog, and there were very little people in sight. We had an absolutely amazing experience and spent very little time indoors.
Ted and Cynthia are model abb hosts. They welcomed by giving us a wonderful tour of their land in Woodridge. Where they have a little bit of everything- pool, tennis court, hiking trail, lake with paddle board and canoe. We pretty much felt like we were in a Wes Anderson film. They offered for us to use their bicycles, tennis rackets and gave us marshmallows to use over the fire. Be sure to get the background scoop on this estate that was once a hotel - that is quite the story. Overall it was exactly what we needed for our weekend trip. Remember to always check out the flowers by the pool.
Ted was very helpful with directions to find the Gazebo. Even sent additional instructions when he found out we were heading down from upstate.
Ted & Cynthia were gracious hosts. Our time spent in the
Charming One Room "Gazebo" was very relaxing. We look forward to visiting again. :)
Ted was very helpful. He emailed me great directions, which were needed because my GPS was cutting in and out. The cottage is adorable. It is one of several that dot a beautiful grassy area surrounding the main house. There is a fantastic swimming pool, and a tennis court and a basketball hoop. There is a pond with a trail around it which my dog really enjoyed scampering around.
Ted and wife were extremely responsive and hospitable. We weren't quite sure what time we would get there (city traffic + holiday weekend), and they were really flexible. They greeted us upon arrival, so no wondering which door to knock on, etc.
The cottage was very quaint, simple and clean, and the bed was comfy. My husband and I had a drink on the screened in porch and talked without distraction well into the evening. Cell service is spotty, but we went away to unplug, so that was just fine. (They offer free wifi, but we didn't use it.)
We stayed there for one night as a stopover for a longer trip and got on the road early, so didn't take advantage of the lake, but wished we could have.
All in all, it's a cute place with great hosts.
The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This place is an absolute gem! The Gazebo is a charming little retreat. The yard, hammocks, paddle boat and the pool were the perfect city escape for us. Ted was very flexible with our reservation and we are so very glad we came! We'll be back!
Cynthia and Ted are wonderful hosts. They made us feel very welcome at their home. We were in the area to attend a concert at Bethel Woods. Cynthia and Ted were very helpful with directions. A very comfortable stay!
Laurel--Glad you you enjoyed your stay. Will be glad to send the book, if you like....Ted
We didn't get to meet Ted, although Cynthia was willing to accommodate. The place had alot of history, just not quite what we expected from the listing so we were somewhat dissapointed.
