We didn't spend a lot of time in the room as we only had 5 days on the island and there is far too much to see and do! However, everything was immaculate and lived up to expectations from the other reviews.
The slight negative for some people may be that cooking facilities are limited to a microwave and a toaster-oven, but between the long excursions, hot days and our bodyclocks being a little out of whack that didn't affect us, and there are plenty of nearby places to eat, at least until 9pm when nearly everything closes which gives you nice quiet nights.
The good - pretty much everything else! The location is great: about a 10 minute walk to the town area and main beach, the coast is just across the road and there are some great cafes and small shops along the road nearby.
Air con was a blessing as even the nights were warm to us Brits, and everything you could want is provided including beach toys and towels as well as loads of household stuff, so no need to worry about linen, soap etc. Didn't meet or even speak to Bill but had no need to, everything was perfect and the stay was smooth as can be.
It was a very nice place. We appreciate the extra beach chair, snorkel and the unbrella. They helped our beach experience very present for the Kona stay.
Everything was what we needed. The location was perfect since we spent most of our trip at either the king kam or humpys. The room itself, also exactly what we needed. Spacious, comfy, beach items if we needed 'em, and affordable. Thank you so much for figuring out the friday mix up and accommodating us!
Great location in Kona and includes everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. We found it walking distance to all the Kona activities and Bill has thought of every amenity for enjoying outdoor activities in this little slice of paradise! Thank you Bill!
Our stay at Bill's place was great! It was exactly as described and pictured. The kitchen was very well equipped and the beach towels, chairs, cooler, etc. were a great bonus. The location was excellent - we walked to dinner every night! The bed was super comfortable and the air conditioning and wifi was helpful too. Bill was very helpful and responsive.
The only tricky thing is parking - we found that if we were able to get back by 5ish we had better chances of finding a parking spot. Otherwise, we had to park across the street in a parking garage. Thankfully, the Front Desk provided us with a code to receive a discounted rate of $5 for 24 hours. All-in-all, not a huge deal or expense.
If (more like when...) we return to the Big Island, we'll definitely return to Bill's place!
The host made us feel welcome by leaving a few note around the studio explaining different things like how to use the internet, and providing beach accessories. The neighborhood was great, centrally located, and the studio complex itself was peaceful and very pretty.
Bill was great at communicating and the place was as described/pictured. A very short walk to downtown but still a very nice and quiet place to sleep at night.
We had a great stay at Bill's place. Excellent beach and kitchen equipment, great location on Alii Drive and quiet neighborhood.
Thanks for relaxing 7 days at Kona!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Kona Islander Inn. The place was clean and had lots of amenities to use during our stay: big beach towels, boogie boards, parasol, a big cool bag, etc. The kitchen had everything we needed, too. It was also very easy to get free parking for our rental car. The area itself is nice, lots of restaurants and shopping close-by but not too loud or crowded. There is also a nice, private pool area in the Kona Islander Inn itself and you can use washer and dryer for a few quarters just a few doors away. We traveled with our 4-year-old who used the extra air-bed, which was - according to him - super comfy.
We had some problems with the shower during our stay but Bill was very eager to find a quick solution, which was great.
