Response from Nathan:
My house is my home and I care about it immensely. I rent it out on the
basis of trust and in the hope that the people who stay are genuine,
trust-worthy and prepared to work with me to plan accommodation
On this occasion, though, things just didn’t add up and very regrettably,
I felt I had no option but to cancel this booking. This is something I
would never do lightly as I know it can be a real pain and throughout my
two years as an Airbnb host, I’ve always tried to avoid. This time,
however, I felt I had little choice.
I had no response from this person to several messages about check-in; I
called them on the phone several times and got no answer; and did an
internet search to try and get more information about this person and the
company name they gave, but could find no website or credible records.
Altogether, I felt that opening up my home on this occasion would not be
sensible or safe.
I’ve had no problems in the past and have really enjoyed hosting all the
guests I’ve had. Rightly or wrongly, I just don’t have the peace of mind
for this booking that I’ve had for all the others. I tried my best to try
and sort things, make contact and plan arrangements, but to no avail.
