Live in Ireland, work in the UK and Europe for a well-known airline, bmi - British Midland

Typically fly 4 times a week, and visit London, Oslo, Aberdeen, and, of course, Dublin regularly

Irish and Australian passport holder - I lived in Australia for most of the 1990s - more of less straight from uni

Visited over 50 countries, including some that no longer exist (East Germany) and some that are not supposed to exist (Nagorno-Karabakh - check it out on the your favourite search engine)

Favourite destinations: Sabah (Borneo), Sumatra, Colombia, Guatemala, Egypt, West of Ireland (Connemara), Amsterdam, New York, Los Angeles, Sydney, Goa.

Worked / lived in UK, Ireland, Singapore, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan.

Car fanatic, motor-racing fanatic: I own 4 cars, in various states of repair

Atypical Irishman - I don't drink beer (gluten free food only for me!)

Big fan of all things digital - I'm the content programmer for the largest digital marketing conference in Ireland.

Style of travelling: one bag, keep it lean, keep it casual, public transport where possible, use my French and pidgin Spanish and German where possible

Best thing about travelling: eating great food, and having the 'craic' with the locals

As a guest: you'll barely see me, as I will be working or looking at the local sights

Favourite music: Jazz - Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett

Top travel tip: Use the hard copy only version of Lonely Planet / Rough Guide / Fodors etc NOT the Kindle versions. Why? Because just when you need a very important piece of information at a specific very urgent time, you cannot find it in the soft copy. Hard copy all the way.
