The day after Anne arrived she called me and her first words were that my apartment was gross and unacceptable. After a few other disparaging comments she handed the phone to her husband Enzo who spoke to me as if I was scamming. I told them I had many appreciative and even returning guests - and pointed to my reviews. Enzo suggested that they were all likely my friends. In person their daughter was rude to me.
I charge $74 double occupancy (plus $10 extra per extra guest) for a 2-bedroom apartment in literally THE nicest corner of Montreal's best neighborhood (the plateau). Included is Wifi, a computer, radio, clean sheets, towels - plus fully equipped kitchen. I keep it furnished with soap, shampoo, toilet paper, cooking oil, dish soap, salt, pepper, coffee and tea. I also leave maps, a book of Montreal, games, DVDs and a basket of slippers for my guests.
The building is very old, and not all their complaints were unfounded; the entrance is run down and there is rust around the drain of the tub, but I was very upset by the manner in which they spoke to me. Most guests recognize the charm, the value, my quick and thorough responses and the cleanliness. (Anne & Enzo did not find it clean)
Enzo told me that they have used airbnb 5 times before, but I see I am the first to leave a review. They were responsible guests and they left the place clean but, even if I had a place that suited their standards, I would not host them again.
