My husband (Don) and I (Donna) are interested in using AirBandB in our future travels. We live in a small town, Turlock, in the Central Valley of California. Our town is surrounded by orchards, dairy, poultry, and and wine grapes. We are close to Yosemite and can see Half Dome on a clear day. When hosting family and friends, we frequent the near-by gold country, beaches, and wine country tasting rooms. We have three grown children with four step-grandchildren in their teens and two young grandchildren aged 6 months and 18 months. We are surrounded by family and love to get together with them as often as possible.

My husband and I are both recently retired teachers. My husband taught 7/8th grade social studies and I was a second grade teachers. We both loved our jobs and enjoyed the creative, interactive aspects of teaching.

The ability to travel during the summer was also a privilege of our jobs' schedules. We have done a lot of traveling, including summers in England, China, Korea, and Italy. My husband taught school in Germany for two years as we raised our children, so we have done a lot of traveling around Europe. RV trips in the United States have included Alaska and two cross-country trips. We have also attended two summer Olympics (Atlanta and Barcelona). Since we are retired, we thought we would do even more traveling while our health and minds are still pretty decent!

I think that our experiences have helped us to be very accepting of new situations. We have traveled in groups, with friends, in an RV, by train, and by bus. We have rented villas in Italy, apartments in Rome, canal boats in England, and camp spots in the natural beauty of our country. There aren't many foods, musics, movies, books, that we haven't tried and enjoyed. As a guest, you will host two people that are friendly, curious, and interested. We respect the trust you have put in us to come into your homes and treat it as our own with love and care. We do not expect you to be too involved in us (and visa versa). Our style of traveling varies as to the expected outcome of the trip. If we are touring a new place, we try to plan out our day and make the most of our time. If we are traveling just to kick back and relax, then that is a totally different style!

5 things I can't live without? Hmmmm. The list may be longer than 5....., but for traveling sessions:
#1 Coffee!
#2 A book to read before I go to sleep
#3 A yummy pillow and mattress to rest my tired body on
#4 Interesting, stimulating, and/or beautiful things to see and store away in my memory bag
#5 My iphone (who knew 5 years ago how important it would be and how easy it is to keep in touch with the world?)

Don and I are excited about this next phase of our lives. We haven't done enough traveling to satisfy the gypsies in our souls. Thanks for taking us on AirBandB. We will not disappoint you!
