Port Antonio is a must stop for overnight in Jamaica. First, the place is not on the main road but in a residential area. There is a house in the front with a family however, your accommodation here is very private. Including a porch, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, bath and private parking. Room for improvements will be an AC as though we were there in the Fall I can imagine it being unbearable in the Summer. There was no iron but the housekeeper, Syliva, was kind to provide an iron upon request.
The water pressure is very low and not sure if this could be better. The best time for water pressure was after 9 am when everyone went to work and school.
The house was very clean with fresh linen and the stove, refrigerator and washing machine worked perfectly. It was like home away from Home. Ms. B. Jean was very attentive and called us to ensure all was well. I will definitely recommend this place when staying in Port Antonio.
Please do go to the Blue Lagoon and ask for rasta Patrick ( a raft guide) he is the best and is very verse on the area plus fair on the cost.
If you are going to the beach Winifred Beach was wort it but note the drive there is not on a good road. We did not get chance to go to Maroon Village so I added it to our bucket list next time when we are in Jamaica.
Thanks Ms. B Jean for your hospitality.
Jean B. was an excellent host. She was very accommodating and gave excellent recommendations for things to do in Port Antonio. Her place is also really nice and extremely comfortable.
Thank you Thomas. It was our pleasure to host you. Please come again soon.
We had a good time in the house, and especially in the neighbourhood. If you look for an experience in a local neighbourhood, this Is the Place to stay. Beverlee and Valerie did a great Job at making us comfortable.
Dont forget to try the icecream next door!
Greetings from Germany!
Thank you Eva, please come again soon.
I felt extremely safe. Access to everything you can possibly think of. Warm welcome from Valerie. Absolutely amazing treatment couldn't ask for more. Although Jean was unavailable she reached out to me to make sure all was well. If you are looking for calm and a cozy place, look no further contact Jean and book.
Ms. Valerie was at the apartment to welcome me and show me around the cottage.
The host made my husband and I very welcome. We enjoyed our first stay so we decided to come back.
Thank you Wendy. We loved having you . Thank you for choosing us for your return visit. Please come again soon.
We had a beautiful stay at Country Cottage, it was warm and inviting and nothing was too much for Jean or Valerie they are the perfect hosts.
It was very much a home from home experience. The house is warm and inviting and was just perfect for our stay. Jean kept in touch throughout our stay giving us fabulous insight into the area and was always reassuring if we needed anything. The locals are nice and friendly and always willing to help, and the shops or in close proximity if you need any little thing.
The main town area is only a short walk away and it's nice to take in the sea front as you go along.
Even the the local food was gorgeous and freshly served with a warm welcome.
I would most definitely stay at Country Cottage again and it made my time in Port Antonio memorable.
A huge Thank you to Jean & Valerie again. Xx
Thank you for the great review Cheryl. Glad you enjoyed your stay hope to see you again soon. B Jean
We stayed 4 nights in Bev's lovely cottage and really enjoyed it. The cottage itself was perfect, we had everything we needed (well equiped kitchen, washing machine, bathroom with shower, small garden, small terraceto enjoy the friendly neighbourhood, cell phone with local number [prepay] and WiFi).
The first day we arrived, Bev and Valerie welcomed us - they are both very lovely and so charming. They just helped us with everything we wanted to know.
We absolutely recommend to stay there to discover Port Antonio or simply to relax a few days!
Thank you , please do come again. Bev
My family and I were very satisfied with our stay here. It was right in town close to both grocery shopping and places to eat. This is significant if you're traveling with young children like mine. It also makes a difference when you have someone like Beverly making sure you're comfortable. She was just a phone call away and we thank her for that. Port Antonio and the surrounding areas of Portland are some of the most beautiful parts of the country. There are many things to do and places to see. We hope to be back next year.
Thank you for the lovely review Marc E. Hope to see you again soon. Bev
A Little Gem in a local community - Wonderful!!
We found Country Cottage on the internet whilst looking for a non-commercial place to stay in Portland during our road trip around Jamaica.
When we arrived we were greeted by Valerie who lives across the street from the house. Valerie and her relative Oney were both on call for absolutely everything, they were very attentive and courteous but not intrusive.
The house is a typical Jamaican style bungalow and has been decorated to a good standard for guests' comfort & pleasure. This well-equipped house is situated a short distance from the coastal road on the edge of Port Antonio town; the journey time to town is approximately 5-10 minutes by car and about a 20 minute walk on foot, there is also a beach nearby within walking distance. There were quite a few local places to eat and rum bars too - everything we needed for our stay.
We very much enjoyed staying in a community rather than a commercial or upmarket place on the coast or in town which we have done before and paid so much more, it was just nice to chill and hang out with the locals.
We would highly recommend this house and we will most definitely stay again!
It was also a pleasure to communicate with Mrs Jean during our booking process and while we were in Jamaica.
