We stayed 4 nights in Bev's lovely cottage and really enjoyed it. The cottage itself was perfect, we had everything we needed (well equiped kitchen, washing machine, bathroom with shower, small garden, small terraceto enjoy the friendly neighbourhood, cell phone with local number [prepay] and WiFi).
The first day we arrived, Bev and Valerie welcomed us - they are both very lovely and so charming. They just helped us with everything we wanted to know.
We absolutely recommend to stay there to discover Port Antonio or simply to relax a few days!
Thank you , please do come again. Bev
My family and I were very satisfied with our stay here. It was right in town close to both grocery shopping and places to eat. This is significant if you're traveling with young children like mine. It also makes a difference when you have someone like Beverly making sure you're comfortable. She was just a phone call away and we thank her for that. Port Antonio and the surrounding areas of Portland are some of the most beautiful parts of the country. There are many things to do and places to see. We hope to be back next year.
Thank you for the lovely review Marc E. Hope to see you again soon. Bev
Bev made us feel very welcome. She was great with communication, and her assistant Valerie met us when we arrived. The cottage was very clean, and we were pleasantly surprised to find WiFi and cable TV! The location is good in that you can walk to several places. The neighborhood feels a little iffy at first, but the neighbors are all very friendly. We unfortunately found Port Antonio to be a little bit run down, and on several occasions found something that had been mentioned in our guidebook closed, which was unfortunate. We were able to walk to a few places we really enjoyed though: Bikini Beach Bar, The Italian Job, and Anna Banana. We were a short drive away from some nice stuff too (we rented a car): Frenchman's Cove, Woody's, Blue Lagoon, and a GREAT hike through Grande Valley Tours. Thanks to Bev for providing us with such a nice home away from home (we enjoyed making breakfast at home and having pre-dinner happy hour on the front porch!) while we explored in and around Port Antonio!
Thank you Ashley. Please come again soon.
First of I wanna say I had a warm welcome from miss B and miss Valerie they welcome me like a family I was so comfortable at my stay that i never was in need of anything it was no except action from home but miss Valerie was just 2 house's away if I was ever in need of anything . I was very comfortable with the area and neighbors are very friendly and nice I definitely staying there again...
No ride ? No problem all the main attraction are within 5 min walking distance you can't beat that
Ms B and the housekeeper Valerie were both there to greet me. I felt very welcomed and already part of the neighborhood. Ms B took me to the grocery store and pointed out a few shops and locations of interest along the way.
She even introduced me to the workers in the store as if I were family.
The housekeeper Valerie was there whenever I needed something from day one. She would appear instantly like magic with a smile.
The neighborhood is safe and friendly. I felt very comfortable asking for directions and where to buy things. This is an active neighborhood with children going to school, goats and roosters walking around, and night time dominoes but it was not so much to be of a disturbance to me. I enjoyed watching a real Jamaican community.
The Country Cottage looks exactly like the pictures. It is basically clean with a nice construction design and flowers, banana trees, and greenery in the front and back yard.
It was an enjoyable home away from home.
Thank you Ms B and Varlerie
Thank you Taunya, It was pleasure having you. Come again soon.
The best host we met with air bnb. The cottage was clean and cozy, we had everything we need. Good place to eat around, a few minutes walking from the bus station in the center of the town. You can reach a lot of good spots around with taxis or buses. And the neighborhood is very welcoming.
Also Beverlee drove us to Kingston when we left. Thank you again, everything was perfect
Thank you Karim and friends. Please come again soon. B
Beverlee and Valerie welcomed us and were very friendly and helpful. The cottage is spacious, clean, and offers a great flavor of the local neighborhood. We loved having coffee on the porch and in the garden. It's centrally located so you can drive to all the great nearby beaches and sights. Beverlee cares about the travelers' experience and feedback to improve on things like noise and safety. We would definitely come back and recommend it to friends!
I had a nice 2nd stay at cottage. The was clean and organized as advertised. The host Beverlee was very friendly and service minded. The place is also being improved by the addition of sound reducing windows.
I would gladly stay there again and can highly recommed this place to all.
Thank you Colin for choosing to spend your time with us. It was our pleasure to host you. Please come again soon. Beverlee
B. Jean was very quick to accommodate to our last minute needs, and Valerie was most hospitable upon our short notice of arrival, but was willing to let us come in and get out of the rain. The home was beautiful, well kept, and perfect for our needs on our stay.
Thank you for you the lovely review. Hope you had a good time please come again soon. Beverlee
I couldn't have had a better stay! Beverlee was more than accommodating. She is very detail oriented and checks in to make sure everything's going well, even had fresh towels delivered because she was out of town. We had everything we needed to feel comfortable. Traveling with a 2 year old is not easy until we got there! Laundry, tv, really the best neighbors ever, a well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, a big bathtub.. It was like a vacation inside of a vacation. Thanks! We hope to come back!
Thank you Quinn. Hope to see you soon.
A Little Gem in a local community - Wonderful!!
We found Country Cottage on the internet whilst looking for a non-commercial place to stay in Portland during our road trip around Jamaica.
When we arrived we were greeted by Valerie who lives across the street from the house. Valerie and her relative Oney were both on call for absolutely everything, they were very attentive and courteous but not intrusive.
The house is a typical Jamaican style bungalow and has been decorated to a good standard for guests' comfort & pleasure. This well-equipped house is situated a short distance from the coastal road on the edge of Port Antonio town; the journey time to town is approximately 5-10 minutes by car and about a 20 minute walk on foot, there is also a beach nearby within walking distance. There were quite a few local places to eat and rum bars too - everything we needed for our stay.
We very much enjoyed staying in a community rather than a commercial or upmarket place on the coast or in town which we have done before and paid so much more, it was just nice to chill and hang out with the locals.
We would highly recommend this house and we will most definitely stay again!
It was also a pleasure to communicate with Mrs Jean during our booking process and while we were in Jamaica.
