We have been working on Thornwood, for the last twelve years -- it's a hobby as well as our home. We worked hard to keep everything original while making it comfortable and complete with modern comforts.
Our advise to guests is: Error on the side of asking. We want every guest's stay to be perfect.
Thornwood is close to many cultural, historic, and outdoor points of interest.
After more than 20 years we still find new and interesting things to do in the area. We are a hour and a half from NYC and enjoy going down on the bus or train to catch a show or visit a museum.
My next "must go to" place is DIA in Beacon. Trying rock climbing on the area's cliffs is next on my bucket list. Every Mother's Day when I get to pick our activity I request a family hike up the rock scramble to Bonticou Crag or a bike ride on the rail trail for breakfast in Rosendale. I love to garden and enjoy sharing the bounty of our kitchen garden with our guests and filling the house with flowers from the yard.
Tom is a pilot, a retired Air Guard Colonel, and the provider of the "superior technical competence" always in demand around this house. He insists on ironing pillow cases when he is called on to help prepare for guests. I would like to, but just can't go there. (I wonder if he will ever read this?)
