I stayed in one of the private rooms in the hostel. The room & the bathroom were clean.
I didn't get a chance to interact with other hostel mates but they looked friendly.. The room was a little buggy but overall a nice experience.
Had a great stay at Jungle Hostel and would definitely stay there again. I stayed in a private room and as mentioned by other reviewers these are a bit away from the main building. I was travelling as a solo female and did not find this to be a problem. In fact it was nice to have a little space at times. It also looked like a lot of fun to stay in the dorms and I think I would give this a try next time. I would definitely recommend the Jungle Hostel to anyone headed to Goa.
While we were booked for a stay at Jungle Hostle, it was a surprise when we saw the entire place under renovation when we reached there. Jason - a super enthu fun to be with guy, was there at the venue to welcome us and informed us of a water pipe blast issue because of which we would not be able to stay there. But he had arranged for our stay at his other property - Prison hostel.
Prison is one of the best and the quirkiest places we have lived in. It is a prison themed hostel and lives up to its name. With all other inmates except for me and my wife being foreigners made it even more cool.
Best part - Jason refunded our money and the night was free for us at Prison.
The hostels are very well managed and maintained. No security issues, friendly care taker - Bubble @ Prison made our one night stay an experience.
Jungle hostel was a lovely Goa experience. We stayed at the private room near the hostel, the room was comfortable with windows facing the jungle, the front of the property faces a private (website hidden), hot water, wifi, and timely changing of sheets made for a pleasant and comfortable stay. After 9 days, we just didn't want to leave and tried to book ourselves in for another 3, but alas they were choc-a-bloc for the long weekend.
This is an amazing place to stay in North Goa. We went during the monsoon season and there were nothing much happening on the beach, but the staff was so helpful and suggested us places to see and eat as many regular tourist places are closed. The neighbourhood is quiet, the owner of the grocery store just outside the hostel is a very helpful man, and the staff in the Mango tree restro bar is also excellent. We opted for a private room, but I will love to stay in the shared room on my next visit. The rooms are clean, very well maintained and has a good view from the balcony/verandah. the re are bikes and taxis for rent on the hostel itself. Many guests hang out in the common area, though we didn't get time to interact much. I would definitely stay here if I visit again.
The Jungle Hostel is a very nice place to stay if you're visiting Vagator. Clean rooms, very friendly staff and backpackers from all around the world will make your Goa experience unforgetable :) Definitely worth more than the money it costs :)
The jungle hostel is a great place to stay in Vagator/ Anjuna. There is a really nice group hang out area (indoor/ outdoor) which promotes easy socialization with fellow travelers. (The only downside to this can be late night noise if you are trying to sleep.) The staff at the hostel are very knowledgeable and helpful and among other things they have prearranged deals for taxi rides and to rent scooters that make it really easy to navigate the local area. I mostly stayed in a private room, which was good value for the money; one night I stayed in the dorm accommodation which was cheaper but hot and buggy.
We stayed at the Jungle Hostel for three nights in early February. 2014. We booked a private room, which was separate to the main building, located a block away in the next street. We were a little surprised at first, but it didn't prove to be a problem.
The room was clean, and the bed was pretty comfortable. Our room came with air-con and a ceiling fan, as well as two big windows to let lots of light and fresh air into the room. Breakfast was included every morning in the main building (tea/coffee, bananas, toast, eggs etc.) which was pretty good. The hostel provided a water filtration system in the kitchen, which was free to use. The common areas were well put together.. with plenty of hammocks and swings to kick back and relax in.
All in all, I'm very happy with our experience at the Jungle. Thank you! If I'm ever in the neighbourhood again, I'll be sure to spend a few more nights here.
Much love from Australia.
super fun time in prison! great vibes among the prisoners, lots of group outings for meals and beach trips. i stayed in the private room and had great luck with hot water for my whole stay, which is a huge bonus in india. breakfast is yummy and the beer fridge is fully-stocked most of the time with kingfisher, juice, and pop. (mostly) reliable wifi and a desktop computer available for use. super clean and lots of fun! great place to meet travel buddies! highly recommend.
oh, and when some friends and i decided to take off early to explore some more of beautiful goa, jason and the staff were super cool and accommodating, giving me back the cash for my remaining two nights on the reservation. you'll be hard-pressed to find a more flexible host anywhere else!
don't miss a night out at heidi's beer garden either. 20 or so of us headed out for dinner there one night and were not disappointed. delicious food, awesome cocktails, great service, beautiful place.
see you next year!
