We were happy that Maggie and Linda were quickly responsive to some of our notes regarding areas for improvement. We never "demanded" a washing machine or AC -- we just noted that these were listed amenities which were not actually provided. We understand that a broken washing machine is an issue that can arise, and we wouldn't have necessarily expected a new replacement during the stay other than having received an explicit communication that a new washing machine would be provided (house access was needed so that heavy lifters could perform the replacement -- obviously this didn't happen after all). Also, none of the Airbnb residences during our Pacific Northwest trip has AC. During this hot summer period it would be beneficial to have air conditioning, and as of this writing the house's profile still explicitly indicates "Air Conditioning" as an amenity. Therefore I had understood that there was AC, and I had thought that Linda also mentioned in person that we could turn on the AC since it was hot. In any case, as mentioned, there is no AC. Communication was obviously a challenge, and I have yet to experience that with any of my other dozen or so Airbnb stays (see other reviews of me as a guest, for example). In any case, no insult was intended, and reviewing the recorded communication thread, I am assuming that the most potentially offensive comment was that this was our dirtiest Airbnb residence we'd yet experienced (it was, by far). I frankly hesitated providing candid feedback publicly, and carefully mulled over the wording, but I feel that frank feedback benefits the community and could help future guests make informed decisions and hosts make needed improvements -- I would certainly hope for the same when I'm researching potential destinations. And if I host one day, I'd want honest feedback. I truly wish Maggie and Linda et al. the best in their Airbnb hosting, and I believe that lessons learned along the way will enable them to continue to improve the experiences provided for guests such that they are very successful hosts.
