I'm a Chicago native and have lived in Lakeview (a pocket of town near Wrigley Field) for nine years. During the day, I'm an elementary ESL teacher for Chicago Public Schools as well as a musician in Future Hits (an educational and bilingual band for kids). My love for music is imbedded in the Chicago community from my time operating the live session project Coach House Sounds.
So far I've only stayed in one Airbnb rental. It was in Champaign, IL, home of my Alma Mater, and I loved it! Whether I'm in Chicago, L.A., New York, Michigan, or abroad, I always bring my running shoes, seek out coffee shops and varieties of restaurants, obscure museums, nature conservatories and parks.
Although I'm new to the Airbnb hosting game, I can promise you that the place will be clean and comfortable for you! I'm sort of a neat-freak, and I will extend that to your stay as well :-) Considering it's a one-bedroom place, you and yours will have it to yourselves. I live and work in the city, and between myself and a friend of mine who I hire to assist with daytime management (he owns a dog walking business), someone will be available to you practically 24/7. I will greet you upon your arrival and ensure that you're provided with clean linens, coffee (I have three kinds of makers!), and some light nosh to get you going in the morning.
Now a bit about me as a person… As a fluent Spanish speaker, I try to get away to Spanish-speaking speaking countries as often as possible. Last summer, I went to Ecuador (Quito, the Amazon Jungle, and the Galápagos Islands) for a month on a grant I won that was designed for teachers. What a gift!
In Chicago, my top five things include: Music Box Movie Theatre (which is three blocks from my apartment), biking or running on the lakefront path (about a mile from my apartment), eating Mexican food at L'Patron (in Logan Square), drinking coffee at Caffe Streets (in Wicker Park) and strolling through the Garfield Park Conservatory (in Garfield Park!). Chicago's distinct neighborhoods make up a wonderful quilt of adventure.
My life motto is: "easy does it, but do it."
Hope to meet you soon!
