This is a privately owned unit at the Cliffs in Princeville, so we never met the owner, but the reception at the Cliffs gave us keys and info on the facility and the area. The unit was perfect for my husband & I and our two adult daughters for an eleven night vacation. The unit was clean, spacious, we loved both the eating porch and porch off the master. The kitchen was well equipped, the snorkel equipment came in handy, bath towels and swim towels were exchanged at Housekeeping whenever necessary. The oven did not work, but we were warned of this ahead of time and it did not pose a problem. Our only issue was with the washer, which leaked water. The problem was solved when the owner arranged for a new washer to be installed. I would recommend this rental to families.
Our stay was hassle free and enjoyable. Marcelo was organised, he sent thru directions to the condo from the airport to the door. The condo felt like home, so good having everything you need to cook etc plus having swimming pool, spa, tennis courts and loads of activities right by is a bonus. Thanks for hosting
Just completed a 10 day stay and I can honestly say it was one of the most fulfilling and wonderful vacations I have ever taken. The condominium was absolutely immaculate, very well laid out and equipped with any and every amenity needed for an outstanding Hawaiian vacation. Marcelo and Valerie thought of everything, from a kitchen stocked with every type of cookware to clean towels, beach chairs, snorkeling equipment, washer and dryer, to name just a few. In addition, Marcelo and Valerie reached out to me a few days before our trip started and provided very detailed information about how to get there, check in as well as a list of recommended restaurants and other places to visit. Great care was taken by the owners and hosts to make sure we were well taken care of and that our needs were met. I can honestly say that the accommodations exceeded my expectations!
In addition to the wonderful accommodations, the condominium is perfectly located in Princeville and just a short drive to the charming town of Hanalei as well as a multitude of beaches.
Already checking my calendar and planning on booking for next year as well!
Thank you Marcelo and Valerie for an outstanding vacation experience!!
Overall: The Cliffs is a nice, roomy establishment in a great location! It's a fantastic deal for 3-4 people.
- Up-to-date, clean facilities - including a washer and dryer!
- Several amenities - contains all the usual suspects and even boogie boards and beach umbrellas!
- In the North Shore - this is the prettiest area of Kauai with many serene beaches and isn't rampant with tourism
- Located near Foodland - there are fewer restaurants in the North Shore so groceries are a must and the poke is bar is legit
- Not enough fans - as listed, there's no AC; and while there are lots of ceiling fans, they aren't very strong and there's only one standing fan (two would've been nice so we could have one in the master bedroom and loft)
- Oven didn't work
- Check the pantry and closets before going out to buy groceries or additional toiletries; lots of good stuff (e.g. food seasonings, aloe gel, etc.) has been left over from previous parties
- Put bug repellent on when chilling on the lanai (there's not a bug problem, but mosquitoes exist on the North Shore)
- Go to Queen's Bath - it's extremely close, but hike during the early hours when the tide is low and there are less people (water shoes highly recommended)
Thank you so much for the use of your beautiful home during my family vacation. Everything was clean and tidy and the airbnb description was accurate. We loved that there is a closet full of outdoor play gear. The kids loved the sand toys and us grown ups loved the beach chairs and giant beach bag that made hauling the toys to the beach so easy. The location was ideal as we spent the majority of our stay on the north side of the island. The Cliffs is a great complex with an amazing pool. I have already recommended it to others and will continue to do so. Mahalo!
We had an absolutely great week at Marcello and Valerie's very family-friendly condo. Everything as advertised and better. Great, helpful staff at the clubhouse when we checked in and nothing negative to share about the entire week. We especially enjoyed how clean and modern everything about the condo is. And the location is perfect - close to everything north and east shore. Not often that I find a condo that I'd rather stay in than a 4 star hotel, but this was it.
Lovely condo with everything you need. My girlfriend and I spent 4 nights here in mid April 2015 and had zero complaints. There are more desirable views in The Cliffs, but still a fantastic spot. Would happily book this spot again. Thanks Marcelo!
The condo is really well equipped just beyond what you would expect. The location in Princeville is ideal as you have groceries and just breathtaking beaches within a 5 minute drive. The location is also perfect for some great hikes around the Napali coast. It was great staying at this condo however we were a bit unlucky as some renovation works were taking place in the surrounding units, but it really looked like the work is almost finished so better luck next time.
Marcelo's condo at the Cliffs in Princeville was just perfect for our week. It was spacious, beautifully furnished and decorated, great appliances including an induction stovetop, stocked with dishes and utensils, nearby outdoor grills. The king bed downstairs and the 2 queen beds in the loft were very comfortable. Marcelo and Val made us feel welcome with emails before, and lots of recreation equipment. The 2 lanai's were well used and we enjoyed long dinner conversations many nights with the sound of the ocean as background. We appreciated the staff at the reception area, their activities on site, and help arranging outside activities. We enjoyed sitting in Adirondack chairs along the cliffs to watch the ocean. There was also a convenient shuttle that ran to Hanalei, and a grocery store nearby.
I stayed here with my mother over Christmas/New Years. We both had a great time and would stay at Marcelo's place again. Princeville feels nice and secluded from the busy tourist areas like Kapaa and Poipu. The one drawback is that there is not a lot within walking distance other than a golf course. I had to drive to surf every day, but very good breaks are within 15 minutes in a car. You can walk to the St. Regis hotel and access the Hanalei bowl from there, but it was huge the day I tried so I did not paddle out.
The place is spacious, clean, and quiet. The closet is stocked with all of the beach gear you will need (towels, chairs, snorkel mask, fins, etc.). The kitchen is also stocked with all the kitchenware you need to provide your own meals, which is really helpful. They even left a couple of coffee pouches with local coffee to get you started if you arrive before hitting the grocery store. Salt and pepper are also stocked in the cabinets. Little things like this make cooking on vacation so much easier!
The complex has a number of facilities we used. There's a gym and pool area. The gym is very small and probably only fits 3 people at the same time. The pool area has a 4ft deep pool (not big enough for laps), two jacuzzis, and some smaller wading areas with waterfalls. We did not use the tennis or shuffleboard courts, but they are there too. The reception office also has a library of DVDs for the days that get rained out.
The weather on Kauai is predictably unpredictable. It is frequently cloudy for periods in the day in pockets of the island. You can drive for a hour from rain and hit blue skies. Sometimes it rains while the sun is shining. It's never cold and I was in board shorts the whole trip so the rain doesn't really bother me. Bring a rain jacket or poncho.
