Chris was an amazing host. She was very knowledgeable about the area and explained it in details. She was so sweet and courteous. The place was perfect for our stay. Everything you could possibly need in a home away from home. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was great!! We loved staying there and if availability permits, we will rent this cute private place again. It was a pleasure meeting such a nice, outgoing and down to earth host. This has definitely been a memorable trip.
We spent 5 nights in the Coachhouse and we had a nice time. We loved the area, Oak park, it was peaceful and the architecture is lovely. It was very handy to walk to the Blue Line (12 min walk). The coachhouse had a nice bathroom, convienent kitchen and good bed. Very happy with our stay, thanks a lot!
Our stay at Chris's in Oak Park was awesome! We loved the comfortable space and the ease of getting to the train stations. The neighborhood is beautiful and safe. We didn't get a chance to check out the restaurants near by except for Buzz Cafe which we stopped at on our way to the blue line each morning. The ride into and out of the city was 20-30min each way which is not bad at all! Chris made us feel very welcome and provided us with a really great first experience here in Chicago! Would definitely recommend.
(Also, really happy there was a wine bottle opener in the kitchen and umbrellas by the door!)
The two bedroom apartment that my daughter and I stayed in was absolutely amazing. Chris has done a great job of hosting the apartment from extra linen to a complete portfolio of information on places to go and local eateries around the community. The apartment is located in the quaint village of Oak Park and it is very safe and very welcoming.
Had a fabulous time staying at Chris' place. The area was lovely and very close to the Frank Lloyd Wright walking tours. The information Chris provided was extremely helpful and we found our way around Chicago easily. The flat itself was really clean and cosy, we could really feel at home as it is separate from the main house. Would recommend staying here if you like a more quiet relaxing stay in easy reach of the city. Chris was a great host, easily contacted and flexible with check in/out. Great stay thank you!!
Chris... thank you. we had a great time. the apt was better than described, and the futon / double bed was comfy (I like firm). the central air was a plus, and the location beautiful.. we had a car , but it was a rainy week. we were able to drive and park for free very close to the L Stations. They are also just a short walk. because of the heavy rains, we did have some unwanted ant guests, but Chris was quick to take care of them. a lot of space in and outside, gas grill a plus. we had 10 for dinner, no problem. We hope to stay with Chris again.
Margaret actually greeted us to give us the key to the coach house. The coach house was a tad smaller than expected. When we got in, linens (2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2 wash cloths) and sheets were sitting on the bed. We made our bed which was not a big deal but wasn't expected.
We appreciate Margaret providing 2 extra bath towels when we requested for them.
Parking was available - it's accessed through the alley between Chris's garage and the neighbor's garage. There was a wooden electrical pole which made it a little more difficult to get the car in and out.
Do not use the blow dryer in the bathroom. I tripped the circuit after about 90 seconds of drying my hair. I felt bad for contacting Margaret to get her to reset it but there wasn't anything I could've done to fix it.
The coach house for the most part was clean however, I noticed that the shower curtain was moldy on the bottom.
We stayed for 8 days and are so happy we did. The accommodations at this first-floor apartment were spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The internet connection is fast and easy. Chris the host greeted us when we checked in, was very friendly and welcoming, and responded quickly to the one inquiry we had during the stay. We were so happy to have had the chance to sit on the back deck and have our child play in the side yard. We walked easily to the blue line and had no trouble parking our car using Chris's off-street parking. We would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.
Our month at Chris' apartment was delightful! The location was ideal for our plans to explore Oak Park events and neighborhoods as well as enjoying Chicago museums and activities. The apartment is 4 blocks from the blue line and an extra block of walking to the platform. A Ventra card is needed to use the Lombard Ave. blue line entrance.
Local restaurants in the area were very good and include a variety of cuisines. We especially enjoyed The Grape Leaves on Oak Park Ave. & Fat Duck on Madison Ave in Forest Park.
The apartment was clean & had many windows for natural light. I liked the exposed brick chimney. Chris was helpful and answered any questions and concerns promptly. She even provided a gas grill for the porch.
The lawn and outdoor plantings were nice, & there was a porch in the front and back to enjoy them. Also we appreciated room on the back porch to lock our bikes. The parking pad provided worked & the neighborhood was safe, quiet and friendly.
This was our first experience with airbnb and we hope to enjoy this and other apartments like this again!!
I have to say, Chris made us more than welcome. We spent five weeks in the apartment, and had a great time. If we needed anything Chris was always on hand to sort it out. It was all we needed for an extended stay. We also did some entertaining in the apartment and our friends were delighted with the facilities.
Access to public transport is minutes away. The area is great, we felt very safe, grocery shopping is a ten minute walk. We would definitely go back. Eugene & Margaret.
