This was the perfect anniversary getaway weekend. The cottage is exactly as pictured...beautiful and serene! We arrived a little after check in time and Marjorie was there to greet us with a friendly smile and a "Happy Anniversary". She showed us the cottage and told us a few basic things to know and she was off. The grounds were beautiful and the cottage is something out of a designers magazine. Everything was well appointed and comfortable. There was a blueberry lemon loaf waiting for us along with some yogurt and oj in the mini fridge. It was such a lovely weekend! I would definitely recommend Marjorie's place to (URL HIDDEN) fact, I've already done that!
This little cottage was adorable! Imagine a Williams Sonoma hide-a-way two miles from Butterfly Beach! We brought our bikes, and it was a perfect destination getaway from all the sites we came to visit!
The host was very welcoming; we communicated via texting, but never met face-to-face.
The neighborhood was quite exclusive, and almost all the properties were gated (including this one). We felt very safe and enjoyed our stay immensely.
Our host made us feel very welcomed. We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the quiet, relaxing property. Everything was exactly as it is in the picture and the fresh flowers on the nightstand were a sweet gesture. This is a great place to stay for a retreat like getaway.
The place was very lovely and well kept. The host provided all the accommodations listed along with fruit and water which was very nice! The neighborhood was quiet and pleasant and the surrounding area was very beautiful!
My fiance and I were in desperate need of a last minute getaway to Santa Barbara. But Mother's Day weekend had disrupted reasonable hotel occupancies and it looked like we were out of luck. Thankfully, Richard and Marjorie had the antidote: The Montecito Guest Cottage. The cottage itself is a large living space, with number of lounging areas and plenty of books. The bed is a very comfortable queen. And Richard and Marjorie have stocked the space with breakfast goodies. And then there are the grounds themselves. A beautifully quiet park like setting - and it's all yours. All in all, you'll feel like a native. A short walk for breakfast in upper San Ysidro Village or a short drive to the restaurants and shops on Coast Village Road. And don't forget the hike to the Hot Springs - who knows who you'll see bathing.
Wonderful cottage on a beautiful property. It was perfect for our weekend getaway to Montecito. Great linens, beach towels that we needed. The sounds of frogs at night and the birds to wake up to. And Richard and Marjorie are kind and helpful. Thank you!
We had a wonderful stay with Richard and Marjorie last weekend. They were very responsive to our needs, including personal review of features of the apartment and encouraging us to connect with them if anything was needed. We did request a light blanket which was provided immediately.
The setting is as described, but so much more. This is a quiet section of Montecito. We slept with the windows open with almost no sound making its way to the lush bed except the very nice background noise of birds in native Oak trees. Speaking of Oaks, the surrounding hills are filled with them and SO VERY lovely.
The apartment itself is decorated artfully and with attention to small detail which makes one feel at ease, immediately.
There is a small town a few minutes from their apartment. Excellent food at the two competing Italian restaurants - we dined at both and loved both meals. If you enjoy active vacations, this is a perfect location. We went on a trail hike up into the nearby mountains, plus bike ride along the strand, plus a visit to the extraordinarily beautiful Santa Barbara Botanical Gardens, and a visit to the Santa Barbara Mission.
Just so that t's are crossed and i's dotted: the room is as shown in photos. This is a separate building from the house; a good distance from house. Outside landscaping is typical mediterranean - many Oaks and plants which are typical of Southern California. Large selection of books which one would actually want to pick up and read. Original art on walls. Very comfortable queen size bed. Plush bedding. One-sink bath. Electronic accoutrements of large TV, cable and wifi ... etc. One will feel comfortable and 'taken care of' at this home.
We highly recommend a stay with Richard and Marguerite and will do so ourselves in the near future.
We found Richard and Marjorie's cottage to be just as lovely as it appears in the photos. It is a large studio with windows that look out over a lawn and a forest of oak trees. The cottage is immaculate and the furnishings are charming. The hosts thoughtfully left excellent ground coffee and a drip coffee maker for the morning. The small refrigerator contained half and half, orange juice and yogurt. There were also croissants and fresh fruit. The location is convenient to Montecito and it is just a 10 minute drive to downtown Santa Barbara. We briefly said hello to our nice hosts who checked in with us a couple of time. It was the perfect place to stay.
Beautiful accommodations, friendly hosts and peaceful serene location. Would definitely stay again.
I planned a solo getaway to Montecito and Richard & Marjorie's cottage was the perfect place to stay. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous, just as pictured, with many luxury touches throughout. I wish I could have stayed longer. The location is wonderful, too- in walking distance to a couple of trails and a very short drive to the beach. Their daughter, Collin, was very welcoming and extremely helpful during my stay. I had a peaceful and relaxing weekend, which is just what I was looking for! I can't wait to go back and bring my husband. :) Highly recommended!
