I am a single male, 58 yo, professional, healthy, and active, quiet, enjoy meeting new people and exploring new places. I don't generally like staying in hotels, especially resort-type places. I like to be on the go.
I am a writer by avocation, a software developer by vocation. I wish it were the other way around, but I'm not even published yet. (Soon, I hope! I keep sending out stories and I know I'll get an acceptance one of these days!) I like to spend a lot of my travel time writing, both blogging about my travels and writing fiction inspired by people, places, and events. So I always travel with my laptop. (Ask me for links to my previous vacation blogs.)
I enjoy both cultural travel and nature. I enjoy traveling independently, but often arrange for sharing parts of my vacations with friends. I like to stay at any one place long enough to experience it fully. I can't imagine any kind of vacation worse than being herded from place to place by a tour guide, zipping through each locale so quickly that there's no time to just *be* there.
Whether visiting a city or the countryside, I'm happiest when I'm walking around, peeking into little shops, stopping for a coffee at a quiet cafe, or following the least crowded trails to find a corner of nature that I can try to imagine is all mine.
