I am a writer living in the west of Ireland. I enjoy Modernist literature, all kinds of music, doing nothing and laughing at my own jokes. I am deeply respectful of places and spaces and will take good care of wherever I am welcomed.
We stayed at this charming thatched cottage in a small famine village as part of our honeymoon trip around the UK. It was a little hide away to bed down in after days on the move, lovely big peat fire roaring it was very cozy indeed. Claire-Lousie was great when organising our stay.
My sister and I had a wonderful stay at Claire-Louise's cottage. Alongside two other thatched roof cottages, the setting was picturesque. Claire-Louise's space is charming, whimsical and quiet- a magical spot for thinkers, artists or anyone simply looking for a serene retreat. The fact that it is a stone cottage means it's bound to be cold and a bit dark, but that made building a fire all the more enticing! We had a perfect evening enjoying some Bulmer's cider by the fireplace. I also loved walking past the horse stables across the street and down the winding road and reading in the yard.
It is not quite a walkable route into Galway city, but the drive was quick and simple- less than ten minutes. Galway itself is lovely- small, friendly, easy to navigate and filled with shops, pubs and a very nice farmer's market on the weekend.
A truly great experience- I can only hope to return to Ireland and Claire-Louise's cottage in the near future!
Claire-Louise was a great guest - very friendly & relaxed. I enjoyed talking to her about life in Ireland & the book she's writing (I hope she'll share it with the Air BnB community!) & I wish her success with it. She communicated her plans well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to other Air BnB hosts.
It was very nice to meet Claire-Louise and have her as a guest. Every thing was perfect.
