We lived in Hawaii for many years, so we bring the Aloha spirit to our home and life. We have twin 4 year old girls and twin 8 year old huskies! Everyone will welcome you then let you have your space in the quiet cottage.

We enjoyed staying at Marla’s cottage. The location was very convenient for both walking into Fairfax - about 20 minutes - and walking right out the door into the Marin Watershed trail system via the stables. The cottage is roomy for two people, with plenty of light. It was quiet at night except for raccoons investigating on the roof! We also enjoyed meeting and petting Marla’s two very friendly dogs. The only caveat I’d mention is that Internet access is not very speedy - fine for checking email, but don’t plan on streaming video. Otherwise, we recommend this location to singles or couples staying in Fairfax.
Was welcomed by amiable host to a lovely and quiet cottage with a great bed, shower, jacuzzi bathtub, kitchenette, refrigerator, and in a lovely natural setting. She invited us to ask for anything we needed and we had a lovely stay just right for our visit.
Marla and John have a spacious cottage which includes a deep tub for a relaxing bath or if you prefer a shower with a rainfall shower head and a very comfortable bed. There is information about the town of Fairfax and the history of the area for your reading pleasure. Marla responded to our request right a way and had everything ready for us when we arrived.
I stayed in this cottage for several weeks, and loved it! The inside is spacious and has a comfortable bed, a huge bathroom and a kitchen with amenities. There are so many spectacular places in the immediate surroundings; horse stables, trails, mountains, lakes, redwoods, and it's in close proximity to great food and restaurants as well. You probably need a car, but there's a lot to do within walking distance. Besides the location and the beautiful weather that California has to offer, it's always nice to be in good hands with your hosts. Marla and John were attentive about my comfort, and very accommodating... in particular about making some last minute changes on my behalf. They have adorable twin girls and 2 awesome huskies. I came on a healing retreat and found it to be very peaceful, quiet, and restorative.
Marla's cottage is perfect. It's very clean, cozy, and functional. Located just a few steps from the trails and only a mile from downtown Fairfax, but it feels completely removed and in the woods. It was the perfect getaway and while we didn't get a chance to meet Marla, her husband was very friendly and gave us a rundown of the cottage when we arrived. Not to mention, their huskies are adorable and friendly!
Very cute studio, well appointed and comfortable. Gracious hosts including a very sweet pair of huskies. A great place for a quiet getaway. Lots to do close by or do nothing at all except relax!
Relaxed, comfy and casual: this is what defines staying at Marla's place in Fairfax! We're big Fairfax fans and were delighted to find a totally new trail literally next door to this place. In addition to being really "in the woods" the cottage is super cozy, refurbished with a new bathroom and modern amenities, a huge TV screen and surrounded by fluffy grass, hills and two completely loving Siberian Huskies who will greet you upon your arrival. They stocked it with a few snacks and a casual welcome note. Everything was lovely and just *easy*. We're so glad to have this option in Fairfax!
The cottage was great and the location is perfect for hikers/walkers. We hiked the trails and walked into town for coffee and dinner. We didn't use our car the entire time. Walking back from town in the evening we heard owls hooting a couple of times.
Marla was friendly, responsive and helpful. We were out most of the time so unfortunately we didn't get a chance to meet in person.
We had some trouble with the wifi, but in retrospect I'm happy I was on the trail instead of checking email.
The private cottage was great; perfect for a quiet weekend to relax. There are hiking trails behind the Marin Stables, right next door. Also - the cottage has a fantastic, deep bath tub with jets.
Marla was a gracious host and very accommodating. We had everything we needed for our stay. I'd definitely go back!
The hostess was gone but Jonathan, the house sitter was very welcoming.
