I am a retired teacher but I am much more than my career. I like playing guitar, writing songs, eating (and sometimes cooking), intellectual (but not snobbish) conversation, meeting people, and travel to destinations w different climates and cultures. I lived in Thailand for 3 years, studied (and now forgot) the language; also studied Japanese, and visited Cambodia, Vietnam, Mexico, and Argentina among other places. I prefer people who are open-minded and seek to avoid people who are strongly opinionated and argumentative. I need some quiet time every day away from people, but when I'm traveling I'm usually open to good company. I'll go along with the crowd, as long as people are not into something stupid or mean.
What I have to offer as a guest: I'll talk, I'll listen, and I'll be helpful around the house. I am open to a lot of topics. I have often told secrets to complete strangers when I travel, and listened to theirs. It's fun, if you are with the right people. Also, if anyone wants to sit around and sing songs, I'm down for that.
Can't live without: coffee, privacy, food. I guess that's a pretty basic list, mostly centered around the stomach.
Seek to avoid: confrontations, drugs, extreme political, social, or religious scenes, people playing their stereo (or talking loud) in the middle of the night.
I hope I said enough - let me know if I didn't :)
