stayed a week at the River Garden, and wished it could have been longer. best parts - the lush poolside setting, staff who made our stay seamless (arranging tuk tuks, taxi to Beng Mealea, bike tour, bus tickets, etc), the little interactions with dogs, ducks, and frogs, breakfast (and taking part in giving alms to the monks if you are up early), dinner in the restaurant, and the street food tour. we stayed in a deluxe deck room for three nights, and Garden Room for four, the garden room was a bit more worn than the first room, but I only note this for disclosure, it was not a problem. note that this hotel is away from pub street, along a more peaceful section of the river, but a 5-10 min jog/bike ride/tuk tuk into town, which was perfect for us. we hope to return one day!
À great place to stay! We stayed 3 nights in River Garden and loved it. First, the location: on the way to Angkor temples (15 minutes in tuk tuk, 40 with bikes), and 15 minutes walk from busy pub street), River Garden appears to be like an oasis aside from the very touristic center of Siem Reap. Then, the rooms are very lovely decorated,, perfectly clean, and with full equipment: À/C, fan, fridge, nice (email hidden)nally, the staff is just adorable, , the restaurant serves excellent khmer specialities and at the top of that, there is a divinee swimming pool. we can only warmly recommend this place!
The staff was incredibly helpful. My husband was sick during most of our stay and they brought delicious meals that I ordered to our room without hesitation. The beds are generous in size. It was very easy to feel the springs through them in our room. The grounds are beautiful and the ducks are friendly. I highly recommend the 'cooks in tuk tuks.' We rented bikes early in the morning for $2 each and rode in to Angkor Wat at 5am. Tuk Tuk service for $7 to and from the airport was good.
A great stay!
Loved my stay at this property ! Met the friendly proprietors as well and enjoyed a friendly dialog. The rooms in the chalet like setting are lovely and quaint. The garden with the duck and fish ponds are a delight. And the pool is a refreshing break from the long walks among the temples. More importantly the staff here are absolutely well trained as top notch resort staff would, and are friendly and sweet people. Dont forget to ask the sweet staff member behind the bar at the pool to make you that lemongrass martini I cherished as my daily elixir after long sightseeing walks, and taste some of the excellent preparations by the chef ( the nasi goreng and satay was my favorite). The management has arranged local (and honest) tuk tuk drivers etc who will make your stay comfortable and convenient to get to the local hotspots. Note: the town has undertaken some enhancement of infrastructure/construction along the road, dredging at the river etc that gives a bit of a dusty ride to the entrance to the property (I presume that will be temporary), but dont let that discourage you. Reserve your judgement until you checkin and enter the garden, the rooms, and you'll be happy. I hope the management continues to invest in this property, and it will become one of the best values for a stay in Siem Reap. Indeed, I will stay here again, and I hope you enjoy it too. LeRoy
Great place to relax by a fabulous pool after a hot and sweaty day at the temples. Would definitely come back again.
