Spacious, clean, comfortable, homey.......fully equipped warm refuge on a cold Vermont weekend. We loved our stay. Very unique space with a great kitchen and living room/common area. Kevin was a great communicator and quite helpful.
One usually expects the place to not look as nice in real life as in the pictures, however I'm happy to report that Joshua's retreat was even more welcoming in real life than it appeared online! Kevin was an excellent host, showing us how to use the wood stove (which I nonetheless managed to let go out), and leaving the kitchen well-stocked with delicious food. The historic house is beautiful and fascinating to read about. We liked the retreat so much that we're hoping to stay there again on the return leg of our road trip. Thank you!
Mending wall was the perfect place for our weekend gathering. The place is huge, warm, nicely appointed and very well equipped. A great and unique space within the beautiful Vermont countryside. Kevin was always easy to communicate with and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment is private, cozy, and quiet. You truly feel like you're in a historic Vermont country retreat. We would definitely recommend this listing.
We had a wonderful time during our Valentine's day retreat! Kevin was an excellent host and provided everything we needed within our "home away from home", as well as detailed instructions upon arrival. Joshua's retreat is appropriately secluded and peaceful, although everything needed for a cozy weekend indoors is within reach if it's not in the household already. The stove provided ample heat to keep us warm all weekend, and the bed was a cloud to sleep on! Highly recommend this place and the excellent hosts for a peaceful getaway.
The Mending Wall is a perfect place to stay if you want to get away from the crowds. It's a big, beautiful, warm barn with tons of things to do. Kevin has an amazing VCR/DVD collection, a ton of board games, Wifi, and lots of comfy couches. When we went, the pantry was stocked with pancakes and chocolate cookies. The kitchen is big and airy, in case you like cooking. The bottom floor has large windows and lots of extra space where you can lay out a yoga mat or meditate. Kevin is also a very patient host -- we were late and confused about directions, but he kindly guided us to his place over the phone. I highly recommend staying at the Mending Wall!
What a wonderful place- comfortable and magical and classic, well cared for and paired with a gracious host.
We just spent a fantastic weekend at Mending Wall. It was everything we wished for – a countrified, comfortable Vermont home with all the amenities – stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, comfortable bedding, beautiful scenery from large picture windows, etc. Kevin is a wonderful host, very friendly, helpful, yet low key. The description on Airbnb is right on. As other reviews have mentioned, however, the photos don’t do it justice since a camera can’t adequately capture the large size and open space. This is the first time we stayed south of Manchester and we loved the location. As it is a short drive to Bennington and North Bennington, we enjoyed the local restaurants after a day of skiing. The drive to Manchester on historic rt. 7A or to Bromley (skiing) or Wild Wings (xcountry skiing) is beautiful, especially in the morning. As an added perk we were able to cross country ski on the nearby historic Park-McCullough grounds in North Bennington before leaving for home. We look forward to returning to Mending Wall soon for another wonderful Vermont experience.
Staying at Joshua's retreat was such a pleasure! Upon our arrival, Kevin had a fire going in the Jotel making the apt. very cozy. The apt. was fully stocked in case we forgot anything, and Kevin had fresh farm eggs for us --which were delicious for breakfast. We felt very comfortable and cozy and enjoyed reading through the history of the Munro house that Kevin had supplied in a binder full of information about the area. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area, or making a trip to Mass Moca!
I needed to book a place last minute to welcome the birth of my baby nephew. Mending Wall was 15 minutes from the hospital and had room for everyone. Perfect. I booked it in the morning and rushed from Brooklyn to Vermont. I went straight to the hospital, so checked in late after little mister made his debut. Kevin was accommodating and gracious. The house is so cute! I wish I could have stayed and enjoyed the house more. Lots of light. Comfy places to lounge. Snacks and breakfast included. Their VHS collection is insane! The original PBS Narnia series and the original Star Wars trilogy to name a few. The bedrooms are cozy and there is tons of room. It says the house sleep 8 and I don't think you would feel crowded at all. I would definitely stay again. Thanks Kevin!
Kevin was a great guest! Welcomed back anytime!
It was great having Kevin and his family stay with us. They're very kind and friendly. They are welcome back anytime.
